Default Pregnancy and Treatment

hello...

My husband and I have decided to start trying for a family

I was dx in Aug 2012 and on betaferon injections since

Two separate Neuros have advised its safe to stay on betaferon whilst conceiving and whilst pregnant.

Has anyone had any experience with this or know of someone who has? Ive read a few case studies where 300 odd women were tested and no signs of abnormal results that wouldnt occur in women without ms?

any help would be great

Welcome to NT, Spokz.

I am childless- not on purpose- but received no treatment w DMDs until I was in my 40's. I have had MS since at least 21.

I'm sure there are some here that will be able to offer their experience.

I wish you a happy pregnancy and a healthy baby!

I understand that during the pregnancy, PWMS feel very well.

Have you talked to your MS Specialist? You might not need Beta while pregnant.

My Daughter chose to stop ALL meds during pregnancy...taking no chance. As Ann said you won't need it during pregnancy, you can start again after breast feeding. Usually hormones take over and your MS goes away for awhile.

Welcome to our group and Happy Baby..

thanks everyone

My neuro and the neuro I seen at my local hospital here were both happy for me to stay on it, however the drug company and generally everyone ive spoken to has said not to...

a couple of studies have shown use during pregnancy may result in lower birth weight however no developmental issues are shown...

im seeing a gyno and ob today to seek a new opinion
