If he really has MS, then he's also taking a big chance,
that the hard hard work of playing basketball, won't
cause symptoms to arise....Fatigue, being the biggest.
And what about the steroids, he may have to take?

I wish him a chance given to try and pray that he'll
be able to do it for a long time.

When (not IF) his symptoms hit during a game, it'll open his eyes as well.

He gets an injection of medicine once a month, which has prevented the disease from being a hindrance. He spent training camp with the New Orleans Hornets and had no effect.If Wright does get in Tuesday’s game, or Thursday’s game in San Antonio, or even Friday’s game against Cleveland, the timing couldn’t be better. It’s Multiple Sclerosis Awareness week."


His contract is only for 10 days. Obviously the Mavericks' management is not confident of him. Sounds like a Mark Cuban (Mavericks owner) publicity stunt.

They make it sound like getting this medication once a month takes care of any and all symptoms. If only that were true.....we'd all be on it! I really wish it were as easy as he's trying to make it seem.

Yeah, it's possibly a Mark Cuban stunt BUT you have to give the player credit for pursuing his dreams.

He may just be at a stage in his life (early on) where the MS is mild. And Tysabri does keep the disease at bay for some folks. Remember that everyone's MS is different.

Anyhow, I just liked the story of this player's personality and fortitude. He wasn't going to let MS get in the way of his dreams. Maybe he'll fail eventually or have a short lived career, but at least he tried!

Oh, I certainly wish him well in following his dream! He does sound new to MS, like he's never experienced it at it's worst. And there is always the chance his course will remain mild. Hope it does!

I think it is good to shine light on MS. I just hope people don't look at other MS'ers and say why can't you be like him?

If people look at this player and then say to other MSers "Why can't you be like him," then they are just idiots! And I think people need to be told they are being idiotic and rude.

I also feel that newly diagnosed people can look at this athlete and feel hopeful that their life isn't 100% over from the get go. It doesn't mean they won't ever progress or hit rock bottom but I can tell you that stories like this would have alleviated some of my fears in the beginning that all was doomed. MS comes in all shapes and sizes.
