Default Final Results for MS Testing

So as promised I am posting the results of all of my testing. You will see the VENG test results on another thread which isn't typically used for MS anyways.

I had ANA, RA, B12, and Myasthenia Gravis blood work done. Everything was negative except for the MG which I have had since 2008.

MRI with and without contrast of the brain and eyes- Negative
MRA- Negative
C Spine- Negative

NeuroOpthamologist- Only noticed minor weakness associated with the MG. This was also evident on the VENG

So per my doctor he doesn't think it's MS but would like to rerun the tests in 6 months because it can take some time for that type of thing to show up just to be safe. he is extra cautious because I have MG so I have a higher chance of getting MS (or any other autothan someone without any disease.

He also said we could do a lumbar puncture to look for 3 proteins and other diseases just to be extra safe as a diagnostic. He said if this is negative that he is 99.9% sure this isn't MS and that the distorted and wavy vision is from the MG, which he has said he has seen and heard of in other patients with this it's just not typical.

So next Friday I have my lumbar puncture and I also requested a test for heavy metals so I am having both of those done. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again everyone.

yes, thanks for letting us know.
good luck on your LP.
why heavy metals? does that have something to do with MG? i don't know anything about MG. can you teach me something about that?

it sounds like you have a good dr. one who is willing to listen and do testing to get at the root of the problem.

Myasthenia gravis is a condition that cause muscle weakness because nerve receptors are dammed by the immune system. often the first systems are ocular resulting in blurred, double, or drooping eye lids. Generalized mg effects all makes. Improvement is usual after rest and difficult, constant, or a myasthenic crisis is.treated with steroids, medicine such mestinon or plasmapheresis. i had mainly bulbar muscle issues speech, swallowing and breathing. I have mild eyelid weakness but two weeks ago.started seeing shimmeRing, moving, slightly distorted.vision in both eyes even with one eye closed ruling out double vision. This isn't characteristic of mg but my.doc says he has heard of this. i having the lumbar puncture to.check for the three proteins found in ms. This wouldn't give me a clinical diagnoses but.give.me a chance for early treatment.

the heavy metal test was my suggestion because on all of the forums i found heavy metals can cause neuro symptoms and i.live in a fishing community that has high levels of mercury. One of the only places I could find someone with similar symptoms was at the link below by the poster Alena. One of the responders said she had the same type of symptoms and it was from mercury poisoning. I doubt that is what I have but a couple of years ago I came across a research study done with local marine life and they noticed that the fish and dolphin here have very high mercury levels compared to other parts of Florida. I fish a lot and eat some of the local fish so I thought it was a shot in the dark to get tested and it wouldn't hurt either way. I'll post the results. Another post I came across was an MS board where a lady on an MS board said she noticed when she read, especially smaller text that was close together she noticed that the lines were wavy back and forth. Some said it was from a migraine, some said MS, and one personal said they had ocular MG with "similar" symptoms. It took the guy with MG to go through 4 neuros before he got his diagnoses. I'm pretty much done with my research at this point because whatever is going on, is going to happen. I am just trying to get a head start on anything for treatment. Hopefully my multiple posts help someone out.
