Default Update from Doctor's Visit Today

Hey all. Well, I went to my Primary Care Doctor today. I did get switched from Topamax to Zoloft for depression. He said he didn't know also what is causing my muscles to be tight all the time, and didn't know about why my speech is slow and slurred. He said that the slump in my back was from just poor posture (which I've had all my life) because MS doesn't deal directly with the bones.

So it's really all a waiting game, don't know if I'll get better or worse, time will tell I suppose. All that I have to look forward to is the MRI in July. But even if they do find more lesions or the lesion I have becomes enlarged, what will be done then?

Hope you feel better with the switch from topomax to Zoloft! Did he say, if this could cause blurred vision and your other symptoms? There are side effects to medications that can occur with or without MS...

If the lesions increase between now and July? Who knows? Maybe, you're MS meds will be switched? Maybe more bloodwork, to see if you've built up an anti-body to interfurons? Maybe a wait and see approach, until another MRi? There's a wide array of possibilities to the what if scenario.

I'm just going based upon either/or my own experiences or recalling the experiences of others.

Don't forget to ask these valid questions and concerns, whilst in the patient room

Lesions are a part of this disease. Increasing or decreasing of lesions on MRIs is quite normal when having MS. What course of action is up to you and your neuro.

Other than the Disease Modifying Drugs, steroids, symptom management medications, exercise and healthy eating not much else can be done for MS or lesions.

You can have an increase/decrease of lesions with or without the Disease Modifying Drugs. There are no guarantees with this disease.

Are you seeing a Neurologist? IMHO, I think you need to discuss your questions and possible medication needs with a Neuro that specializes in MS.

I'm glad they switched you to an antidepressant. You should think about doing light exercise and eating healthy to try to improve your mood and help with your symptoms. If you eat really healthy it can cut down on inflammation in your body which can aggravate MS symptoms.

When I do light exercise each day it makes me feel 200% better and healthy eating does the same.
