Default Another handicap parking zone rant

I'm posting from a laundromat and out front are clearly marked handicap zone spaces with a wheelchair un loading zone between them. clearly marked with signs on posts and yellow loading zone designation. The ******* next door that runs a small Chinese diner, has repeaditley thought he was smart in parking his car in the loading zone between the handicapped spaces. He must of thought it was perfectly ok to do that and he wasn't actually in the handicapped spaces. What does he think the space he is parked in is marked with intersecting lines as in "don't park here" are?

Well I watched him do this the last three times I came in here to do my laundry and I got fed up with it. I am TIRED of able bodied people thinking they can do this crap.

SO I CALLED THE COPS ON HIM!!!! they came out and gave him a double fine, plus they found out the car parked in an actual handi zone had no parking permit....an gave them a ticket too!

and yes I am damn proud of me right now!

Even before I had MS I would never do things like that...I still have some respect!

People parking in handicap zones just really gets me steamed....well....unless they actually need them of course.

I usually take pictures of them and shame them on Twitter. Nothing like a little public humiliation.

When I used to go to the gym to use the treadmill, I'd always see the motorcycle drivers parking their bikes in the hashmarks next to the handicap spots. I'd take pictures and tweet them TO the gym (a nationwide chain), and also complain to management in the gym.

Also, if my car door hit their bike when I opened the door, not my fault they're parked in a no parking spot. They shouldn't be parking their bikes there.

Go Eric!!!!!! Being in a wheelchair I need those loading spaces to be, well, loaded by DH. The best was when some #@$% parked there and came out with his family to see me unable to even approach the car door in my wheelchair as the cars were so close.

Of course I put on the hurt, confused, poor me crip face and DH and I watched him in his full view load his family and drive away, he was totally embarassed. As kids are wont to be, his were mortified by Dad's actions and I'm sure they told him repeatedly on the way home. Keep up the good fight!

Default Hi ERIC YEH!

. I use my sticker when I absolutely am in pain. If my pain is tolerable, I leave the space for someone worse off then me. I wish everyone would respect those spots. We don't get the sticker for nothing. Good for you for calling the cops!!!!!!! ginnie

Here in East TN double parking in the handicap spots is a HUGE problem. Both handicap and non handicap will park in the hash lines of a handicap zone spot. Its so hard to find a spot to park as it is, and then you have these idiots doubling and sometimes triple up (in a van accessible spot) in a single spot, just makes you want to scream!

here are the pictures I took of that ****-***. Now I know he is not handicapped at all. He done this for a while since I have been coming here to this laundromat and last night I lost my temper over it. I am SICK and TIRED of people thinking they can pull things like this off. Why do it? Just park in the correct spot, it isn't that much farther away! An extra 10 feet is worth risking a ticket? really?

Even before coming down with "the crap" I NEVER parked in a Handi Zone....EVER. My parents tought me better, plus we visited many a handicap parking when my grandmother was still around(she had a major stroke and was wheelchair bound for 16 years) We NEEDED those spaces! Idiots just don't get it.

And now I DO HAVE a Permit for myself, but I keep it hidden far away in the glove compartment, because I don't want to believe it yet, lmao. However if I really really really need it....then I'll use it. But right now I park like a normal person in a normal space, because I simply don't need that space just yet.....even though I am totally allowed to park in them.

You all have no idea how much this lights my fire

we had a similar issue at my local grocery (manager thought he should not have to walk an extra few feet - as he was the boss)

Funniest thing I ever saw was an older woman pull in her minivan and let the ramp unfold - right into his wee sportscar. When the polics showed up she turned on her best "sweet little old lady" charm and declared "Why I never knew cars were even allowed to even park in the loading zone of a disabld parking space; was his car hurt?"

My husband and I high fived her in the dairy aisle -and she declared "that ought to teach the little bastard!"

The grocery manager got nailed with a big ticket and towed off to impound - and she was found not liable as he was illegally parked. Go grannie!!
