What is the best medicine to help with tight, sore, hurting muscles? My back, waist, and legs have been hurting now constantly for almost 2 weeks. Yesterday and today have been the worst days, and it seems to get worse as time goes on. I hurt and I'm sore all over. I've tried the pain med Tramadol, but it seems to not help anymore. My mom suggested Folic Acid to help with the soreness.
What is there that can help me? |

I take Baclofen. My back, legs and mid section ache all the time but it's because of the way I walk. My gait is so compromised due to MS I walk in a perpetual state of tenseness. Baclofen helps me at night because when I lay down it's pretty painful.

I take Baclofen too for spasticity. I also keep a bottle of liquid magnesium/calcium in the fridge. I like the liquid better than the pills. Many times the supplement helps when things go into cramping.
Pain pills aren't going to help with the spasticity issue itself. You need a relaxer like Baclofen and it works best to take it every day to get its full effect.

I also take Baclofen (20 mg at night) and that really helps to settle the 'spasticity' down. My muscles are very tense during the day, so I'm thinking I should be taking it during the day as well.....

I take baclofen and tizanadine. I take one of each, together and they seem to usually work. Been on baclofen for about 2yrs and the other for almost a year. Alot of MSers say stretching exercises help with their spastisity, however for me stretching makes mine worse. Also, hot and/or cold packs can provide some relief. I have a muscle in my forearm that is permanently tight and I do on/off ice pack/heat pad and then meds and it helps. When dealing with MS spasms it can be a real hit and miss with how each individual finds relief.

Most I've ever been prescribed by a neuro was Tylenol with codeine. Failed a reflex test. Had a pulled muscle or perhaps popped my disc in my back.
Right now, I am home remedying a pinched nerve, pulled back muscle, with a combination of Alleve and Tylenol(the otc kind). I've had numbness and muscle spasming all up and down my right arm. Pulled it, hoisting my son up to the top bunk. So far, it's working. Hope you find something for your soreness and tightness. |
