Exclamation Having trouble getting approved for low cost Tecfidera?

Don't give up!! I just went through this very problem and came here to offer my experience. Call MSActivesource at 1-800-456-2255 and ask for the FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE department. I have been trying to get this med since about April 4th. Have been passed through so many different companies and 2 pharmacies. I even STARTED at MSActivesource but didn't ask specifically for the financial assistance department.

One company told me my copay would be $2300. I have Medicare only. I said that's twice what I make in a month on SSDI. The lady on the phone tried to give MSAS's phone number - I said I have it memorized. She asked if I'd ever asked for the financial assistance department. Thirteen years ago, that was all they did so I didn't think I had to ask. After talking to them, I had an answer in minutes! I'll be getting the med for free.

Good luck!

Glad you posted your experience here and what you learned!!

I will be getting my Tecfidera today by UPS.

I am going to follow the blog by lib825 so I can post my experience there also.

If you private message him, he will send you the web address.

Hope your experience is a good one!!!

Yippee for both of you- will be eager to read how it goes!!! Is it really as simple as asking for financial assistance even if you have a medicare plan??

Sounds like it. Just today I asked specifically about the advertised $10 copay and was told that is for patients with commercial insurance. People on government-issued insurance get it free. If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, the 'script is good for a year. If Medicare only, like me, the 'script must be renewed every January.

The wording on the website is quite misleading.
