Default Exercise does work!!!!!

I didn't think it would but I can't believe the energy and stamina I have after going to the Y 6 days a week for about 90 minutes a day.

Yes doydie, it really does work

I started exercising after my diagnosis 28 years ago and have found it helpful with spasticity, pain and fatigue.

I am unable to use any medication for fatigue so exercise is the only way I can try and deal with the issue of fatigue.

Keep up the great workout at the Y

I was looking at this last night. We have space to put this in the house we currently rent.

http://fitmaxipool.com/

We don't have a Y here All the gyms are fairly expensive (at least $100 a month), so this is the same price or cheaper than two years at a gym (if I got the most expensive one with the heater).

Nice for the ordinary/able exerciser/swimmer, but I wouldn't
be able to climb those stairs to the pool nor hook myself up
to the pully thingy.

chaos,

Exercise with MS can depend on the persons abilities, some of us can do more than others, some have more disabilities than others.

Exercise can be whatever you are able to do, you don't necessarily need to go to the Y or buy expensive equipment. Going for a walk, riding a bike or exercises that can be done from a chair or bed.

Many of us have worked with Physical Therapists and go from there with what was taught/learned.

Exercise is anything you are able to do that gets you moving

My legs/feet really hurt because of the neuropathy involved and I have a bad SI joint. I really need to get moving, and swimming has always been something I've been able to do. The strength in my arms is still decent, although my wrists hurt a lot. So for me, swimming seems like the best solution. I can quit when I need to, I can stop and float around if I need to. I can take a dip if it's too hot.

I acquired a bike recently (it showed up on the front lawn, nobody claimed it after a week) and I have gone riding with my daughter. I was exhausted. I don't want to go out far in case I need to get home quickly. Sometimes the two of us just walk around the block.

I thought about getting a stationary bike, but I need to move more of my body.

I have an exercise pool in our garage - er - I mean in our spa. I honestly believe the pool is a big reason why I am still somewhat ambulatory.

I don't think I would be going to the Y if the membership didn't come with my insurance. We can afford it without the free membership but it's not something that I would normally pursue. A lot of the Y's have an aquatic class that is geared towards people with MS, other people in the class also but it's good for the MS. So the local MS society pays for that one class. If there isn't a Y and some gym in town has an aquatic class that is geared for more of the disabled, they might pay for the one class. Now it only paid for one session which lasts so many weeks, If you want to take the next session, you have to pay for it yourself.

Did an 8 mile walk today!

I did have to sit on the rocks a couple of times, but, just a month ago I couldn't walk one mile.

feels nice!
