Default I hate ER Doctors

I really hate MS - and all the unpredictable different pain it gives you.

Tonight I had really bad chest pains and nausea - to the point it had me crying. And if that happens - then you know I'm in some real pain. After a couple of hours of pain, my grandmother takes me to the ER - I've been to the ER now 4 times since April, after being DXed with MS. The first two times I went they really helped ease the pain - the last 2 times however, they sort of laughed at me and sent me on my way.

Tonight I go in hurting as all get out - they do an EKG and a chest X-ray and they said it was normal. The nurse gave me a Loratab - it helped some, but I still was in pain. Doc came in said all was normal, that I probably had condochondritis and that basically there were no tests for it and I just had to deal with it!

That made me furious!! I'm not a junkie - I do not want to be on pain medicines - I want someone to help me battle this MS and it seems all that doctors want to do is make you wait wait wait wait wait!!!!!!!!! I've spent from Feb until a few weeks ago battling with my neuro to help me out to the point that when I got the appt with the MS Center, I fired his butt!

It's not easy going from a normal life with work, being able to drive and go do things to completely unemployed without the ability to drive and being stuck at home for months. I've been out of work since Feb because of my vision - I was denied Medicaid so I had to file for disability - I have hurt in ways I have never hurt before this year and it seems that dumb doctors don't understand that! I don't go to the ER unless I'm hurting really bad and I've exhausted all other possibilities.

The pain that I was having tonight was that it felt like someone was squeezing my chest, with my chest beating really fast. I was also nauseous, felt like I was going to throw up but couldn't although I did start to burp and pass gas a lot. I also had a huge headache and neck ache as well. My bp was a little high 149/90.

My appt with the MS Center is Aug 19th and I wish it was sooner than then and I hope that when I do go that they will help me! I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I've tried exercising, stretching, walking, eating healthy and even with that I still hurt - when I do exercise, it takes me a few days to even recover from it!

I'm just so tired

Sorry that you are having such a rough time. It sounds like you may have be having a go round with the HUG.
It is frustrating to not get help when you need it, or to be taken seriously when you ask for it. Maybe your PCP can put in a pain/symptom management protocol to the ER for future use so you don't have to go through this?

With love, Erika

My PCP can't do anything else for me - he is a good doctor but doesn't know a lot about MS. So at the moment, I don't have any good doctor on my side that is actually treating me like I should be. All I have to look forward to is the MS Center in August
