If I still clench, I'm not aware of it, but I did get in the habit of sleeping with my mouth open to avoid clenching. Because I've lost so many teeth and have ten implants. I can't wear false teeth because of having toroids in my palates (bony growths) and so it's implants or nothing. Now I have to have two more crowns. And I really need two more implants. Just endless expense. I had hoped not to have to have the last two implants, but my chewing isn't healthy this way.
I will clench more if I get a bad drug (bad for me) and so that's another reason to avoid drugs I'm sensitive to. It is a neurological response, in my case. No question about it.
Maybe in your case as well.

I've noticed that sometimes my jaw just get tired...I'll be eating a meal and my jaw will feel like I've been chewing for 12 hours straight.
