Aynadee,

The NMSS has a "lending closet." They may have a walker that you can use/have.

There is also the MSF and the MSAA- I think I have that right. At least one of them has gifts of equipment for those in need. I'd say you are in need.

And, if you have a PennySaver type of paper in your area, there are often many offers for medical equipment. Or, you can take a look a Craig's list for walkers.

Best to you,
ANN

I got mine at a thrift store for 4 dollars..... Medline with the front wheels, aluminum and extra thick grips... They have piles of those things there.

Here is the link to the MSAA Assistive Equipment page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and look under Equipment Distribution. You can fill out the online application and they will get in touch with you to verify what you need. It's a great resource and I have personally used it. :)

You can also call local home health agencies. I used to work in home health and we had a storage building filled with donated equipment that we would provide to others in need. I hope you find something good really soon.

Goodwill will traditionally provide you what is needed if a doctor orders it and Catholic charities or your local hospital traditionally have free supply closets (donated equipment) available for the asking.

It also helps to put up a flier at church (people ill help if they are asked:))

or look in the classifieds section of the paper or scout yard sales for cheap medical equipent.

Good luck!

Hi jprin

Great Post. So many of us have discovered where help is. Keep passing on the information. Also most towns have a "womens'" center, where they can direct you to the best source of help. ginnie:I-Agree::You-Rock::Thanx:
