Default New Life with MS

Alright so here is where I am now:

The doctor got the results from my brain MRI, and she said that there wasn't any new activity with the spot on the back part of my brain, and that basically I still have to wait until Feb 2014 to see the MS Clinic. I've done a lot of thinking lately, and it has been a long 10 months. Haven't worked since the very beginning of the year.

So now unless something big happens like me waking up and can't move my arms or legs etc..., it looks like I might have to look for a job. Can't wait on Disability to come through any more it looks like. I have to lose at least 80 pounds, because I'm 5 foot 11 and weighs 270lbs. I'm scared to be honest. I'm not sure what to think right now. I'm in pain everyday, although the good part is I haven't had the MS Hug in a while.

I'm not sure what to do next. My dream job would be to work from home, so I guess does anyone have any suggestions to that?

How do you go back to the real world? It's like your life just shifted from working, driving, being socialable to being home bound with no care, no money, at least I have family and a place to stay.

I think this is an excellent idea. It will be scary but I really believe you will feel physically and emotionally better if you are committed to going to work and contributing to the household. Having income will give you more control over both your personal life and health care treatment options.

What are you qualified to do? What have you done in the past work wise?

Good luck.

Find out what best interests you first...feel the fear and do it anyway, as the book title suggests.
Try your best to keep the bad foods out of the house. I'm trying to lose about 60 lbs, and even though I use food to decrease anxiety spells, if it isn't in the house, I get through it. I find snacks that are crunchy like pea pods, hummus, vita top muffin tops, homemade smoothies and low fat milk shakes--and I am keeping a food journal and being totally honest with myself on it.

Keep up your symptom journal, and try your best to get out of the house for a bit every day. We become imprisoned in our homes and in our minds unless we can connect with nature or other people.

Don't give up on yourself!! You can be the best you can be...it takes a lot of inner strength and the "shh" when the self judgement starts. I suggest the book "The Power of Now." It has helped me tremendously.

good luck and keep us informed...
