That's very nice. Sounds like a great researcher. But I'm puzzled about what drugs could do to build oligodendrites, which I think is what the article states is the basis of myelin repair.
Obviously those of us who "remit" must do this, without drugs, unless the drugs we happen to be already taking do this building process. Of the drugs I take, I suppose Klonopin, which affects nerves, could be a builder. More likely a good diet and specific supplements are the builders, in my case. I am VERY curious as to what drugs "build oligodendrites." I wish I'd bumped into a good doctor when I was a freshman at Stanford, where Dr. Chan comes from.

At least it's hope, eh? Wouldn't it be wonderful if it turns out to be true?

I saw my neurologist a few weeks ago at the medical school here. He said there is an MS myelin repair drug in phase 1 studies. Unlike the doctor in this article looking for existing meds that work, this study involves a new compound. My clinic is about to join the phase 1 trial. He suggested I could join if interested but there is no way I would join a phase 1 trial! Yikes...they don't know in phase 1 if the compound even works or what dosage to give it at.

Hopefully in a few years there will be at least something for us!
