Colorado is making a lot of money in tax revenue from legalized marijuana sales. Illinois might get out of financial dire straits if they follow suit. People are going to use it, so why not tax it and help society and take out the drug lords as the middle man.

They'd apparently rather spend money putting people in jail for having pot.

What I don't understand is this: pharmaceutical meds have PAGES of side effects...long lasting, dangerous, etc. side effects. One of marijuana's non-medicinal side effects is that you get a little "high". god forbid you feel a little high from your medicine! Forbid that you get the giggles, or enjoy your food a bit more..... that's just "wrong". What is the problem really? Why do people begrudge a side effect that actually makes you feel good for a half hour? What's the darn problem? For crying out loud.
btw....good morning everyone!

Thanks for sharing this...truly amazing that this has been a schedule 1 drug for so long, especially since it is listed as a medicine in medical books from the 1800s...
