Well I have kicked myself in the butt and gotten back on my bike!!!! I no longer weigh my nice 176.4 pounds but 180.4 so I am trying to be cleaner in my diet and get back on the bike.

Spring is in the air!!!!!!!!!! 70* today and is going to be nice most of the week.

My cookies now have to be rice cake snacks. Although if I let myself I can eat the whole bag

I am physically having a very very very very bad day, but my room is getting painted today. So yay!

My only problem is most of the painters don't speak English, and I don't speak Spanish, other than basic greeting stuff, saying "thank you", and a couple of swear words that would be inappropriate to show off my knowledge of today. I keep having to catch their boss when I can. (He's American, but is lucky enough to know Spanish)

I just wish I wasn't having such a bad MS day. I called my neuro yesterday to tell him how bad I was feeling. He said that's the steroids wearing off. (I did two tapers, back to back that both started at 40mg X 3 days, then tapered down from there)

He said I should start to feel better once my body gets back to making it's own natural steroids. Hope that's soon. I wanna feel good enough to throw darts at my dartboard.

getting really tired of being MSish when I want to have fun with our remodel. But I'm super excited that our remodel is almost finished. I think having my bedroom enlarged is really going to help me. More room for the walker.

It is Ride Week! I will be riding from Houston to Austin this weekend and flying the "batdanna" once again. I am down 26 pounds in the last 46 days and the weather service is predicting a 15 mph tailwind for the ride! Woohooo!

That's awesome Batman! Its so great to know that you are getting out on your bike again and the ride sounds like a blast.

I miss riding mine but haven't given up on the idea, so I haven't sold it
I used to mountain bike a lot and do plan to at least try it this year when this body is a little more stable and stronger, but balance might be a problem. There are some pretty cool tricycles available and I had checked them out a couple of years ago. Hmmm...certainly a possibility.

Ride on!

With love, Erika

If you get serious about looking at the trikes, let me know. I have 3 friends with MS that ride them due to balance issues and I can give you their thoughts on what they do and don't like about their particular models.

WTG Txbatman! I remember when I was still riding my bike and participated in a short run of our MS ride here. You were my inspiration back then! I plan to get a tune up for my bike this year and use it on nice days. I have been trying to get our community bike trails extended to our small town but that might take a few years. But I can still ride on the local side roads.

Tomorrow DH and I are leaving for five nights to Negril Jamaica and I'll get a lot of walking, sunshine and hopefully, swimming and kayaking in too. I feel very fortunate for all that I have and that I can still be as active as I am even with all of my other health issues.

Have a great time on the beach wiz! I am hoping for a dive trip sometime this fall, but the dance card is quickly filling up with other obligations through the summer.

I am humbled that I was able to inspire you in the past. I was really bummed out earlier this week, because the former group exercise director at our gym, a lady who taught the 2nd spin class I ever went to, had to make the decision not to attempt to ride this year due to worsening MS symptoms. She was diagnosed several years after I was and had ridden over 20 MS rides prior to her dx. She has battled through fatigue, balance, hearing, and leg weakness issues over the last few years, but still managed to ride at least a few miles. This year, worsening vision has prevented her from even attempting to ride. I so badly want to see a cure for people like her. Her situation simultaneously inspires me to want to do more for people in her situation, but also depresses me to see that some people just are not helped by the treatments we currently have.

So sorry to hear that TX. She certainly was
and still is an inspiration and so are you.

Thank you.

My room is done!! yay!!!!!!

Except for my dartboard. Waiting for the decorator to come over and get it hung for me so that I can play according to the official rules. Plus, she's bringing cork board to put on the wall to protect the drywall. She's also bringing movers to move some furniture around our house so it makes more sense.

I just have to dust a few things, get some pictures of my dog to hang on the walls. Put my towels and stuff in my linen cabinet. Vacuum. Make my bed.

Our shower is done, except for the shower head, the door. The sink needs a faucet, and it also needs a drain.

And, that exercise bike thing that I bought earlier this year...the contractor put it together for me today. I haven't tried it out yet, because I have tendonitis in my left knee. (that woke me up this morning! Owww!) I was already going to see my regular doctor about my b12 and other stuff, so I had him look at it. Lucky that...he thought with the overextending that I've been having going on with both knees weakened it. Then yesterday, I was getting into the car and kind of tweaked it a little bit.

My doctor is going to give me a Rx for physical therapy. I only have 15 visits left on my insurance, but since I'm paying full price for the PT because my deductible is so freaking high I haven't met it yet. I figure what's the point of saving them.

Yay for your room Erin, although I wouldn't say the bathroom is done. That doesn't sound done. Pictures when it's all put together. Did they put the bar up by your bike to help you stabilize yourself.
