Default OT my not so nice cat had to have yearly check up

Last time I had my precious kitty cat in for work at the vet, well she was spayed and had back claws removed, she bit a vet tech. So she was under house arrest for two weeks until animal control could verify that was no longer any threat. So today was the day for yearly check and rabies shot.

She is terrified of any open door to the outside so I really wouldn't have botherd with the check up except for the rabies shot. I have always just taken her on a leash so this time I went to Target and bought a pet carrier. That was money well worth investing. It was really bad getting her into it and out to the car. But when I got to the vet and unzipped the top, she was content to just sit in the carrier and let the vet examine her. Of course they had to take her out to give her the shots but they protected themselves and her with a towel. Afterwards she put herself back in the carrier and just sat in there with the top unzipped while I paid the bill.

I guess I never realized that she needed that feelling of protection of the carrier. It has mesh sides and one end comes unzipped so you can pet her and give her treats.

But she has moped around all evening, just isn't her usuall playfull self. I don't know if that is a result of the rabies shot or she is a little mad at me.

I asked the vet if there was anything I could do to make her a little more comfortable around peole. She terrorizes my grandaughter and just is unfriendly with anyone except my husband and me. The vet said that it is typical for a female cat and especially one that was hand raised by humans away from her litter mates which she was.

Oh My....I remember when I had two cats and how difficult it was to get them in and out of the car.

That is so cute how she wanted the protection of her carrier. It's quite normal for Cats to be leary of Kids and to protect themselves. It sounds like she is just quite spoiled by you and hates the intrusion of the Grandkids.

She's mad at you right now, but she'll get over...about mealtime, I'd say. The rabies shot can leave the animal listless for a bit. Not to worry, she'll be fine.
