Hello there. I am trying to keep busy while I wait for my next MRI and then Dr. visit. I hope all is well with you.

SallyC 08-05-2014 06:22 PM

Just lurking around, being here for peeps who may need me. Been feeling a bit
lonely for the way things used to be.:(. I'm not talking about the fun thingy but
more the comradery we all had here.:grouphug:. I know that things and peeps change
and that is all good, but I'm getting old :D and wish things could stand still for
awhile longer.:)

Anyway, still here and still loving you all.:grouphug:

Awww, Sally. I hate change too. Yes, this forum seems a lot less active than it was when I joined 6 years ago! But I still come back when I can. I'm doing well and still working (knock on wood!!).

You were one of the first that helped me out in the midst of my diagnosis shock. I will always remember that. :)

I really miss Victor.

SallyC 08-10-2014 12:04 PM

I miss Victor too. Where is he, do you know?

Thanks for understanding, Natalie.:)

I agree, Sal...so many have left. But we get new blood, so all's good...

Sally, sometimes a smaller group of people results in more interesting discussions, don't you think?

If a group gets too large, people's posts get lost or ignored, misunderstandings happen, feelings get hurt. Seems less likely to happen on a somewhat less lively board, maybe?

I'm actually still around, just not very often. We moved into, and are cleaning out, my mom's house which needs some serious maintenance since she did nothing with it for over 6 years. My mom moved to a Good Samaritan facility about 6 miles away and I've been putting her duplex together.

I spent 18 days in the hospital in April for, go figure, they never figured out WHY I had an abdominal infection. Fortunately, it was only an NDE (near death experience). 2 surgeries. We had signed a contract to sell the house in Houston a couple days before it hit me, so we had to move a few days after I got out of the hospital. I was useless, unable to walk, but my wife made up for it.

I retired from NASA in January. My pension pays for medical/vision/dental and a little bit of cash. Wife Mary tried to quit but they wouldn't let her so she works 20 hours a week from home and goes back to Houston once a month for a few days. She was the chief financial officer for one of the off-shore oil company manufacturers so... It pays good.

Re-learning how to golf. Our house is on the 11th tee at Druid Hills country club in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.

I agree. I think as we become more and more sedentary we naturally become less social. Too much time to think and scrutinize things sometimes makes for problems where there were none.

But, like Debbie said there are new members joining and a chance to make new friends. It's all good! :grouphug:

Hi Tom. Always nice to hear from you.:) So sorry about your infection and
hospital stay. Glad you have DW to lean on. She sounds like a keeper.:)

It's great that you are settling down to retirement life in TN. (ridge runner:D)
Good luck with the home reno., lotsa work. Take a golf break often.
