Default Need A Little Help.

I am taking lots of meds for infection and gearing up to have my, rotted by
MS meds, lower teeth pulled and then fitted with the dreaded lower denture.
8.5 years ago is when I had to get my upper denture.

My upper is great, I love it, but I fear a lower, as I have heard horror stories
of them not fitting well and hurting all the time.

Please help me cope with this new stress venture in my life - Not to mention
thehorrible ordeal of having all. my teeth pulled.. I have asked to have this
done with novacaine and a little N.O. gas, since I'm allergic to Versed.

I know this isn't major surgery, but with MS, anything can be major!!. Tell
me all the upbeat stories you've heard or experiences you may have had, to
help me get through this as gracefully as I can. Thanks.

Aw Sally, .

When I had upper and lower wisdom teeth removed, my dentist did not give me any pain meds at all, and I called him crying several hours later. So just make sure you get plenty of pain meds, have soft food for your recovery and maybe have your DD stop by a few times a day. If they do not feel as though they fit afterward, get right back to the dentist and make him do it over. I think there's an adjustment period until the swelling from the surgery goes down though. I'll be thinking of you sweetie!

I don't have a full lower, just a partial filling in for al but 2 molars and my front teeth... My father on the other hand broke down after far too many years and got both full uppers and lowers put in about 2 years ago, he's never been happier.

It did take a little getting used to, and it's important to get them adjusted as needed, especially in the beginning healing process, if they start wiggling, pinching, sliding etc don't wait or simply fill in with glues but get back to the dentist/denture place and get them adjusted. Don't suffer pain, get it taken care of right away. Well fitting dentures helps prevent wearing of the bone, protects the gums and should feel natural, not even realizing they're there until it's time to brush your teeth

I personally love my partial and I have a full upper (issues from long ago) and my father I don't think would ever dream of going without his dentures now that he has them. He's eating things he hasn't been able too since I was a child.

I don't know of anyone with the lower dentures except my parents and I think they had that done before I was born or I was a small child. When my husband had his top plate done all the adjustments needed was part of the deal. Just get something in writing about that. He has been back twice

Sally, every dark cloud has a silver lining. Just think of the booty you'll find under your pillow from The Tooth Fairy.

Seriously, though, you'll be in my prayers.

i don't have any first hand knowledge about your dental ventures but i do know that dental techniques have come such a long way since i was a child; a long time ago.

i'm sending hugs and prayers that your procedure will go well. have some soup portioned out in freezer bags for food. it's even acceptable to eat baby food.
stay hydrated, big deal.

please let us know how you are. love you sally.
