I was diagnosed with MS about 9 months ago. Declined medication because the dx was made by "accident" and I am fearful. I did have numerous atypical brain/spinal cord lesions and 5 oligobands. Also with small fiber neuropathy. I have a burning pain in my thigh which only hurts if something touches it. It moves around and it is right below the skin, maybe in the muscle. When something touches it, the pain is really bad but fleeting. Have had it for about 6 months. This also happened in the arm but that eventually went away after my physical therapist massaged it so hard I had terrible bruising. Has anyone else had this. It's hard to say whether it is neuropathy, ms pain or something else. I know my case is weird.

sounds like "dysthesia".
I sometimes have issues with pain when something cold hits my skin on my feet and legs. Makes taking a shower sometimes kind of interesting. I have to hold the shower wand I have away from my legs until the water warms up.

Yup. Just had it this week. Lasted two days and then went away. Good riddance!
For other neuropathies, I have found if I wrap the offending part snugly in a towel, it cuts down on the pain a lot. I think the sensation of snugness outcompetes the pain sensation in the race to the brain.

welcome to NT,
either one of your guesses could be right. there are so many different symptoms a person can have. MS affects the nerves and nerves do a lot of things in the body. sensory sx's can be many. just monitor your condition and keep your dr in the loop. you might want to do some reading/research if you havn't already about MS. the more informed you are the better you can participate in your care. keep us posted.
