Also pin pricking, warm sensation down backs of legs, low voice tone, tight band feeling around lower leg that lasted about 3 weeks, memory problems, balance issues in the dark and sometimes for no reason. This is 2nd time my PCP mentioned MS. 1st was in 2011 with similiar symptoms but neurologist said no MS. I've been tested for vitamin deficiency, lyme, other normal things they test you for. All normal. What do you all think?

Being heat intolerant is common for those with Multiple Sclerosis, so a hot tub, bath or shower can negatively affect many.

However, not everyone with MS has this problem. Each person experiences this disease differently.

Unfortunately, if MS is suspected testing will need to be done.

I most definitely have MS, but I take hot showers all the time with no problems. Sitting out in hot sun does cause me problems tho. My heat intolerance seems to sometimes be dependent on what exactly is hot. Type of heat, how I feel, and other things.

I'd demand testing specifically for MS. Different neurologists approach MS testing differently. Most likely they'll suggest a spinal tap and most probably an MRI. Make sure they do the MRI with and without contrast. I'd ask for a cervical spine MRI to be done at the same time the brain is done. Might take a little longer but you'd only have to go in once for both of them.

Here's a link to the McDonald Criteria for diagnosing MS. I'd print a copy and take with me to my appointment. Let the doctors know you've done your homework and are serious about getting the right diagnosis.

you've gotten some good advice. keep advocating for yourself. diagnosing MS can be a process of elimination. start to keep a medical file on yourself. get copies of dr's visit dictation and test results. get copies of mri results and ask for a copy of the disc. all that will become important should you see more than 1 dr.

and, to your heat Q. i agree with the others. i'm very heat intolerant. i do ok with taking a hot shower. but, if it's hot outside i can quickly become weak and very tired almost to the point of collapse.
