It was raining here this morning too with a bit of lightening and thunder. It did cool it down a bit, but it went right back up to the high 80s and will stay there for the rest of the week..BAH!!! Glad you feel a bit better today, Cincy.:) |

Fortunately this tree can use some "pruning." It's a Kwanzan Cherry tree and is pretty thickly branched. I didn't get around to pruning it this year so the hole will be ok and it will fill in just fine with new growth next spring. Sally - these bad boys do attack unfortunately. The sentries are swarming around. I just had to go move the trash can and saw these guys patrolling. They are pretty easy to spot! They love this hot weather we're having. DH got stung by 3 of them and ended up the ER last summer with life threatening reaction. He left me with one epi-pen and my neighbor has 2 more. So, I am covered in case of any stings. |
Hello Cheryl,
That thing is HUGE!!!! I'm shocked you got so close to it. When we moved into our Condominium in Fla., they were still building the other units. I came home from work at lunchtime one day and noticed our mailbox was completely covered in BEES!:( I'd never seen anything like this in my life, so I phoned my husband and he came home and we had a Queen Bee on the inside of the mailbox. The thing was literally COVERED in bees. We called the local dept. of wildlife and they had a local beekeeper who was more than thrilled to come out and get the Queen Bee out of our mailbox. He came out several hours later all clad in one of those beekeeper uniforms, and was able to identify the Queen and catch her. He was thrilled for some odd reason;) . As soon as the Queen was caught, the mailbox emptied out and all the remainder of the bees died off within an hour or so. It was terribly frightening, and fascinating. The next say there was a picture of our mailbox in the local newspaper. We both got a good chuckle out of that. Be careful and stay away from that nest. They can be awfully mean little buggers. I hope you begin to feel better soon. All the best, Chris |

What have I gotten myself into :icon_eek:
I went to pick out carpet samples and scheduled an appointment tomorrow for measuring. I have a ranch style house that I will be having the entire main level re-carpeted (living room/dining room, 3 bedrooms, family room, hallways, basement stairs). If anyone has ever put in new carpet you know what a nightmare it can be. My kids and I have already started clearing out closets and moving some stuff down to the basement. I swear this is worse than just moving. I will pay extra to have them move some of the bigger heavier pieces of furniture but for the most part I want us to handle most of the furniture moving. Once I get the estimate and they have my sig. on the paperwork it will take about three weeks for the carpet to come in, so at least we have time to get things in order. I know I will love it when it's done but holy gaucamole what was I thinking. So, tomorrow between 2 & 4 my new awning gets installed and around 4 the carpet guy comes to measure. Again.....What the heck was I thinking! |
Oh ..way toooo much work LeeAnn! I'm tired just thinking of all that you have to do.... But, it will be so nice when it's all in and oh so purty....
Don't overdo... pace yourself.... |
We did carpet a couple of years ago in our ranch-style house. It was a real pain moving the furniture. Fortunately the weather was nice and we just put everything outside on the deck! ;)

I should just be happy that I can walk...but what I really want to do is go to scout camp and hang out with 20 little boy scouts like I have done for the past 12 years. But the camp is HUGE and not really a safe place for someone like me anymore. Then, this is the year for the 50 Miler hike in the Olympics National Park. I have been before and I want to choke the scouts that whine and think that they can't do it. I just thought that if I was the one to give it it up first..(before they hauled be out on a stretcher) and not MS telling me I had to give it up, that it would not hurt so darn bad. (but it does) Oh well...who wants to sleep on the hard ground, smell like smoke, eat crappy camp food, or even worst...freeze dried? (Taffy raising hand) (Stomping off to burn some Peeps............) |
