Here is some good info for managing MS. Oh how I talked to my sister for years about Grape Seed Extract, but I wasn't a doctor.

Reading the above link again and the patient case history, her DHEA was a putrid 67..I've talked about DHEA since I arrived at NT and I don't believe conventional MD's test for this hormone in our bodies but integrative MD's do and that was one of the first tests they did on me when I started with this type of MD. My levels were low but nothing like the 67...today my levels are over 800. So much needs to be considered in all health conditions...we are so much to keep our bodies in a working condition whatever health challenges we are dealing with.

If you are presently taking or considering taking DHEA, please read this article. Many important facts about DHEA are not widely known or presented in the media. Like most compounds that have the potential for doing good, DHEA also has the potential to do harm.

Thanks for that link Kitty - it looks like a very balanced and well-reasoned article to me.
"today my levels are over 800" There is some information about the normal ranges for DHEA (measured as DHEA-sulfate) for both men and women here; https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/...cle/003717.htm. These levels vary with both age and gender. A level of 800 ug/dL is very high (well outside the normal range for both men and women).

Caroline, do you have adrenal issues? That level is excessive. Does your doctor know about this? I'd be more than a little concerned.

My integrative MD knows my levels and all is good. A neighbor who will be 88 soon finally left conventional medicine doctor and joined my doctor and found how low her DHEA was and so this much older lady is well over 600 now. For all she is challenged with, bodywide OA and hip surgery mess too, she is perky and her skin is amazing. She has had damage from drugs in her life, like hearing loss from she says years of Midol, and she also deals with glaucoma. She's taking grape seed extract about 7 yrs now and says she wishes she knew about it sooner.
Another topic, I have a friend on another health group and she believes the MS first came on in 2001...she takes only LDN and supplements and now taking higher doses of Biotin. She's had her ups and downs with this MS but overall she is doing pretty well and no pharma drug but the LDN. http://www.msard-journal.com/article...006-1/abstract |

PS: Other MS stories really interest me as my sister has declined so terribly and took every drug her docs prescribed. She can barely talk and when she does it's hard to understand...her DH is her caretaker as she can't even feed herself. And hasn't walked in a few years. I've talked about her when I came here. I so tried to help her but she didn't hear me or want to hear me.
This person I've talked about with MS and does all the supps and LDN says getting on iodine has given her a lot more energy. I met her from an iodine support group and then some went off to form a group that talks about everything including iodine. Now on the DHEA and I'm looking at my 2013 labs, the range is 350-4300 and I came in at 1890 with taking 25mg DHEA for quite a few years. So the 800 I mentioned wasn't correct. I don't know if any here on NT work with DHEA but I've posted about how it declines in our bodies at 20-30. Lately, I'm taking 25mg every other day. I didn't get labs done in 2015 as doctor was rushed and I let it go. This year hope to get labs done. I'm only here to help others feel as good as they can. So many don't know about so much that COULD help. Believe me, I have my challenges but keep working to feel as good as I can. |

Here is an informative link from Women's Int'l Pharmacy on DHEA:
http://womensinternational.com/connections/dhea.html One can only know when tested and go from there. My thoughts are MOST are deficient in DHEA. It was my first integrative MD that tested my levels. The range is wide from what I post from my labs. |
