Default Such Frustration

Last week, my PCP decided to add Lipitor to my meds as a proactive measure since I am diabetic, though I have been keeping my numbers in the pre-diabetic range. Ideally, it should lower my triglycerides and raise my good cholesterol especially since I can't actively exercise.

The last 4 or so days, I have had swelling in my hands and feet and noticed some in my eyelids today. I have also had a nagging headache, not a migraine, just a normal headache. I went in to see my PCP. My Systolic blood pressure was unusually low for me, she decided to do an EKG which was normal. She sent me for a whole slew of labs (I just had a ton to start Tecfidera a couple of days ago) and chest x-rays. She also tells me that she wants to refer me to a cardiologist, just to be on the safe side.

Some times I have shortness of breath and tightness around my ribs that doesn't last long. I tend to take deep breaths from time to time. Thanks for letting me vent.

i wonder if some of your rib tightness could be what's called the MS Hug.

it's good that your dr is referring you to get a fresh look at these other sx's (symptoms) you're having.

let us know how you are. keeping an MS Sx journal may be helpful to the drs to track your sx's. write the date & sx's you have.

let us know how you are.

I will definitely keep a diary of my symptoms, thanks for the idea NurseNancy. I wonder about the pain in my ribs, I often feel achy along the area afterwards, like muscle strain type of achy. But, my grandfather died from a heart attack at 54 and I had an uncle die of heart relate problems in 2007. My mom and my aunt had vascular problems (probably from smoking, I quit 7 years ago). My grandmother had respiratory problems and never smoked a day in her life and had a pace maker though she was in her 90's. I have an uncle that has vascular issues as well.

I can't help but to wonder if I am such a complicated case because my mom was raised on the Love Canal in Niagara Falls. They used to swim in that toxic waste and ice skate on it...this was back in the 50's.

I will update as I find out what is going on. All I wanted to do was sleep today.

Oh yikes!!! I hope all turns out well with your testing. Keeping a journal, as NurseNancy mentioned, is an excellent idea and will be really helpful to you.

The rib pain could be the MS hug. It is not a nice hug. I don't like it at all. Write down what you experience in your symptom log with that as well.

Definitely let us know how you are doing.
