After the miserable fail of Copaxone, my neurologist and I sat down and discussed treatment options yesterday. I had had an allergic reaction to Copaxone in July after 5 injections, my neurologist ordered me to stop them. We discussed Tecfidera, but my neurologist decided against it since I already have chronic nausea. He ruled out Extavia because of the injection frequency. We settled on Plegridy since it is a single injection every 14 days. I am very sensitive to medications, at least that's what they tell me...lol... I was hoping someone may have tried Plegridy and could give a little insight.

I have not tried it. Hopefully, someone who has tried it will come along and post.

I started on the 12th of August. Just had my first full dose on the 9th this month. The first 2 injections I had no reaction at all. I felt good but I did take ibuprofen and tylenol on a schedule for 2 days after.
The first full dose went well too as far as the injection with no injection site reaction at all and no pain. I didn't remember to take the ibuprofen and tylenol on schedule the last time, not sure why I didn't, I just got busy the next day and forgot to medicate. So Saturday night while attending a wedding, the side effects hit. I had the aches and felt sick to my stomach but the worse part was that it felt like all my MS symptoms got worse. I could hardly walk! We left the wedding and I didn't think I was going to make it to the car. I had forgot to replenish my ibuprofen in my purse. Once I made it into the house (wasn't sure I was going to make it up 2 steps into the house from the garage) and took ibuprofen and laid down for an hour, I started to feel a little better. I took medication for the next 3 days and I am doing okay. I did get a flu shot this Friday and now today I have symptoms back again. Not sure if it is from the flu shot or still from the Plegridy. I have been on Copaxone for the past 2 years and went to Plegridy because I have been slowly progressing and wanted something stronger to try to stop the progression. Hope this helps. Good luck! |

My3sons, Thanks for the input...I feel better about it now. My starter kit will be delivered tomorrow and I am in the middle of packing to move this weekend. What a week!
