Default What kind of shoes do you wear?

I was wondering what kind of shoes you have found in the summer to help you walk without messing yourself up worse.

I bought a pair of new balance tennis shoes per my Drs. orders. The thing is they are tennis shoes. In the summer time my feet burn up in tennis shoes. I wanted a pair of sandals but the JCPenny didn't have any when I bought these last week.

What kind of shoes do you find help you in the summer months. I have Dr. Schols and they do nothing for my feet.

I hope you will help me with this. I realize someone tried to make me look like a like I wasn't being honest here but that's ok. People soon find out who's on the up and up and that's all I care about.

Thanks again for your help.

I buy ECCO sandals. They are very light and comfortable. Heavier shoes make my legs ache. They are expensive but very worth it. You can buy them at Nordstrom or The Walking Store but they are cheaper online.

I wear Birks almost exclusively now. The molded sole kind of "wraps" around my foot and keeps me from breaking my ankles. I can't wear absolutely flat anything anymore.

I wear Stegman clogs for slippers, and Merrell Primo Chills in snow. My PT just made me get a pair of NB sneakers too and I did, but don't foresee wearing them until well into fall (when I won't wear them anyway because it's time for real shoes).

I'm being forced into an AFO, so he swears I had to have the NB tennies. At least I was able to find some understated, plain leather ones.

Default Hi,

Thanks for the info.

My new balance are pretty plain and I made sure they were lightweight. I had some Nike's that were like wearing weights.

I will get on here and do some research. I was just thinking awhile ago that I would have my daughter Susan order me a pair off of the internet. We live in such a small area, it's hard to find certain brands. I had to go to the next town to get the NB's. It's about 30 miles away.

Thanks again.

I go with dansko shoes--
closed clogs with a back in fall & winter and sandals during spring & summer. I definitely notice that I'm more stable on my feet and they're comfy enough to ge me through the day w/out whining!
I've also taken to getting them on ebay at a much better price than retail!!

I am a crocks girl too.....or anything that have a open back(slip ons)
I have a problem with my ankles hurting if to tight or ride in the wrong place on my ankle.

I often kick my shoes off so the ones that slip off and on work great for me. I too have a problem with feet getting to hot and that makes my whole body seem hotter.

I know not everyone walks as well as I still do but the bottoms of my feet hurt so bad I have to have on some kind of shoe. Even just foam flip flops as long as there is some couchion. For instance my hard wood floors....oohhh man....cant do it w/o some kind of shoe on.
Good luck girl.....I know its a pain to deal with....

Default Thanks for the help,

I had been taking walks for years before this.

I lived in the country but I walked on blacktop for 8 years. Then when my betterhalf passed in Nov. I moved into town in April. I started walking on sidewalks and with 3 months I went from no problems to not being able to walk at all if I don't wear the right shoes. I can't figure what would be the difference betwee concrete and blacktop.

I do go barefooted in my home but it's all carpet except the bathrooms and kitchen.

Some of those brands I haven't heard of but I will check them out. That's a great ideal about ebay. I will get on there and look.

I do have some name brand shoes. I have a friend that owns a consignment shop and she gives me a lot of my clothes and accessories. I have always liked to dress up when I go to the Dr. or anywhere BUT as soon as I walk in this house for a short trip my shoes come off. For long trips I knew I needed some better shoes. My sister is coming up from Ky. next week and I know we will go do some sightseeing. I'm hoping to rent rooms if we go very far so we aren't doing long trips in one day.

Co. has so much to see but most of it is all far away. I am close to the Royal Gorge, Buckskin Joe's, Cripple Creek but I want to take her to some places in other parts of Co.

I'm just hoping I can do it. Thanks again for all of the help.

I wish I could get away with open back shoes or flip-flops-- I walk right out of anything that is not SECURELY on my foot!! More than once I've looked down to discover my shoe is 10 feet behind me!!

I've still not been hit with "too hot" issues... if anything, I'm FREEZING all the time. I'm sure I appear absolutely nuts wearing a swearshirt and socks outside in July!
