Default OT free things in the mail

I got an issue of TV Guide in the mail today. What a surprise. I had never ordered it. So I called them and asked how I got it. They said it was complimentary one year subscription from a marketing agency and gave me their number. So I called them and went around and around with the person who answered the phone. He kept on telling me it was to thank me for being a valued loyal custopmer but could never tell me what I was a customer of. He finally admitted he was only the answering service but would give the company my number. Never got a call today and will follow up untill I talk to soemone. I don't like my name sold to just whoever. How do I resolve this or do I just accept my free gift and go on with my life. My husband says just to be grateful we now have a subscription of TV Guide.
