Our local cable company, WOW, is offering a bundle package for internet, cable and phone. I already have a bundle package that I am satisfied with but this one has digital cable with it for about $13.00 more/month. What is the advantage of digital? We have an HDTV but since we don't have any kind of reciever, we can't watch programs in hi def. Does digital allow us to do that? Thanks

It is my understanding that digital cable is able to transmit the HD signal. While the older cable method cannot. Not all channels offer HD yet, nor are they required to until 2008-09, I think.
HD is a way for big business to contol the signal and prevent recording/copying, or making recording more difficult. I know that's not a good explanation. I don't always listen closely. ![]() ![]()

Yes, Doydie, the digital cable will give your HDTV a slightly crisper, more vivid image. Analog cable will be defunct by Feb of '09 but for all of us who will wait, there is a converter that will be widely available supposedly for under $50 (which works for one unit).
The bundle question is always confusing because it is meant to be that way. The objective of the cable company is your money, not your happiness (despite their cleverly worded claims). My opinion is that if you like the offer, can afford it, and want it, then go for it! I don't watch enough tv to warrant the change, so I'll be remaining an analog viewer for some time. ![]()

I'm just going to forget about going with a new 'bundle' plan. I'm totally satisfied with my present channel line up, only new one would be 'on demand' and the music stations. I don't need a faster computer and I don't really call anyone long distance. When I do, I have a phone card which costs 3 cents/ minute. My daughter has free long distance and calls me when it is convenient for her. I'll just save $13/month. That will buy me one nice meal a month, or 2 meals every two onths if I take my husband.
