Not to worry. With a little time, you too can get used to soy products! Soy you say...Blech!! I hear you. I thought they were revolting, repulsive, very, very sad excuses for dairy, but I'm here to say - it's ok! In fact, it's more than ok! If you can find a trader joe's anywhere near you - head on out. Mine is 60 minutes away but it's worth it for the cheese. Soy sation is a cheddar/mozzarella mix. It tastes good, it melts good, and unlike most other soy cheese - it doesn't smell like stinky feet. they also make a really good soy mozzarella. Believe me - I'm a cheese freak, but I'm learning to love these! Galaxy foods also makes a good soy parmesan (can't tell the difference). I even made lasagna for DH the other day - he said it was the best he'd ever had... Soy and rice milk are good substitutes - I really like the vanilla flavor, but chocolate flavor is good too with ice! Haven't ventured out to soy yogurt and soy ice cream yet, but I will. I'm trying to become dairy free (eventually) using baby steps. You can do this! |

So.....brought home the vanilla soy milk and poured a glass of the yellow stuff. Convinced DH to try to first! (Sucker) Yum! You will like it he said!
Sure, (he lies) but, since I had my big girl panties on that day, I took a little sip! Holy cow! Or, Holy Soy Bean! That stuff is not bad! I just might live after all! Now, does anyone know how to make pumpkin pie with soy milk?

Isn't that just a direct substitution for the milk? So, basically, out side of quiche, it's an even swap for milk?

sort of looks that way to me! I asked my neighbor about it cuz she uses soy milk a lot - her kid is lactose intolerant. She says it substitutes straight across.

I did. Yesterday.
Now today. Where are those hunger pains? (looking around) Where did they go? Is it too much to ask to be somewhat normal and just feel hungry more than once? I know, I know...I will never be normal again! But it was nice to feel like I was starving to death. I had forgotten what that felt like!

there is a product you can get from health food shops to help you cope with milk and milk products, its not a drug as such but an enzyme that people who are lactose intilerant do not produce. I am not sure what it is called in the US be the brand name here is lactaid
