Snoopy, I think I may have been getting these same pelvic spasms . . . so I wanted to ask about the sensation.

Does it feel like a spasm, occurring in the internal cervical area? (I had cervical cancer, then tried to deliver a child naturally . . . so that's why I can relate to it as the spasm source area.)

Is it intermittent, lasting seconds to minutes, then nothing for days or weeks . . . or more constant?

Do you happen to have trouble with your bowels from the spinal lesions (although that is not where the feeling generates from)?

Thanks,

Cherie

Cherie,

My neuro thinks I am dealing with spasms but if I am having spasms I don't feel them.

The pain and sensations I have: pressure - like you would feel with a UTI and the feeling that my insides are going to fall out - probably similar to women who have dealt with a fallen bladder. I also feel the pain at the clitoris. None of this affects intimacy nor do I have pain during intimacy.

This is fairly constant with a week or less a month where I feel normal again. The GYN told me everything is where it's supposed to be. She did a little experiment - she wanted to know if the pain I felt was noticeable when she touched certain areas - the uterus and bladder. Both caused the same pain I experience.

As far as my bowels - that's a hard one. I have had bowel problems since I was an infant. I had 2 to 3 feet of intestines removed by the time I was 2 years old (no nerves in that section). Since I was about 12 (?) I have had a problem with needing to go but not being able to pass "it". This was not related to constipation but to muscle spasms. To this day I still run into this problem but I have found Klonopin relaxes the muscles and allows me to go.

I don't know if any of this makes sense or helps but if you want any more information just let me know.

hi snoop,

just catching your thread.
sorry the cymbalta didn't work.
have you tried lyrica or neurontin?

pain is so annoying.
i hate mine but it's mostly muscular.

at least your drs are making sure you're in one piece and ok.

Hope you find the right med for those pains.

Hate it when one doc says yep it's MS and then another says NO it's ......

Geeze what are we paying U for? As you can see I hate neuros. Been there done that.

Let us know what you finally find that helps.

Judy, no I haven't tried Neurontin. I have been on Baclofen, Lyrica, and Cymbalta. My neuro has termed me as med sensitive since I seem to have a problem with the side affects of the meds. So far those few meds have not made a difference in the pain/sensation. His next choice is to try pain meds - narcotics. I don't want to use them.

Thank you Cat in the Hat and welcome to NeuroTalk :)

The only thing that sort of helps - Klonopin but I hate taking it as much as I have been.

Right now I have done away with all the meds except Klonopin - I really, really like that stuff  :p

That's not the sensation I have been getting, and mine is not constant either (thankfully). For me, it feels similar to a contraction, but directly in the cervical area.

The reason I asked about bowels is that I noticed (this time) that there was a timing connection with the contractions and a BM. I'm not sure if that was true in the past, but I'll be watching for that in the future. I too have bowel problems, due to Ulcerative Colitis and MS . . . so it shouldn't be too hard to make the connection if there is one.

Thanks,

Cherie

Hi Snoopy!

I am just now reading this thread. I am a little slow on the uptake this week:).

I'm glad (?) it's MS and not something worse/else. That's sounds insane:eek:, but true.

I really hope you can get some relief. Pain sucks no matter what causes it.;)

My thoughts are with you:hug::hug:

Sounds like over all it was a good appt., glad you know why your having the pain. It's scary when you just don't know. I hope the Cymbalta helps you.
My prayers are with your sister also in he search for answers.
