Default ThanksGiving

Hi everyone!
I will be cooking dinner this year again, it is my favorite holiday. Since I got divorced many years ago, and I don't have family, and my son was little, I made sure to have a good dinner for us. Over the years I still made dinner and who ever was lonely, lost, or didn't have family, or whatever it is etc... they were welcome to come over to our house. The offer still stands. This year it will be my dear friend Anna and my son and myself, and ???? Then afterwards I will be resting. Sounds like a plan to me. Anna is bringing desert. I'll think up some good food that is easy to make. The turkey cooks itself...just about. WaLa, it's done. The only problem I see is the dreaded trip to the dreaded grocery store. But I need things I don't think my son will understand about...so...it's up to me.
So my house will be smelling soooo goooooddddd!!!
Everyone have a good week Geri

When I rarely ask my PODH to go to the grocery store, most times he is totally clueless about a lot of things. I have learned to go online and find photographs of the items I want and print them out for him! At first he was insulted, but I honestly didn't care. It sure made my life a lot easier.

I got the items I needed. I also learned that I could get a diagram of my local grocery store online and that way I could make my list according to the aisles in the store, therefore avoiding making him have to look for things all over the store!

Just an idea...

Have a great Thanksgiving! Sounds like fun!

Ha! My dad (85) needs a job every day so I send him to the store with a short list. I tried pics, I tried lane diagrams, I tried actual aisle numbers. I can't tell you how often our mega grocery store runs out of just things I need! It's a conspiracy! The rule is, if you can't find exactly what I wanted, don't get anything. A couple years ago, he discovered the vendor supply houses. OY!!!!!

Does anyone need a lifetime supply of curry powder or a gallon of Kitchen Bouquet? How about 10lbs. of sea salt??

I'm going to eat

We are having a 22 lb turkey.

I have to work the night before so I will be sleeping through most of the prep work. The teen and her DBF are both working the night before and coming home in the am, so they will be sleeping through most of the prep too. Let's hope it is actually quiet!

The man is cooking and the 9 yr old is making his world famous chocolate cream pie because "it's tradition"!

I plan on not dwelling on the folks I am missing this holiday. I am saving that for Christmas.

Default Thanksgiving

Pictures of items needed to send with them, What a GREAT idea!
I am going to try that one of these days.
We did have two huge bags of rice, but since they were in burlap bags for a long time, the rice smelled like burlap. It didn't taste the best either, and I am not a rice fan. So they went bye bye sometime.
The trip wasn't so bad, I did sit and rest in the truck for a little while before going in. (gathering up my strenght.)(girding my loins) eueeuhhh
Anyway, it wasn't that bad, but when I called my son to see if he was home to carry the stuff in, he wasn't!! So I got my trusty wagon and put the things in there and just pulled it into the house.
the puppies were all just thrilled about what momma was bringing into the house. They were nosing thru the bags. it was rather funny. At least they keep me laughing. The turkey was especially interesting to them. yummm.
Every one take care, it is going to be nice here in Mid ILLinois 74 I think!! woo hoo. And I am off this afternoon, shrink appt. Nice man, really good dr.
See ya.
