Why not just exclude the one sister from the sibling gift draw? She doesn't seem to value the tradition anyway, so I am sure she wouldn't mind.

I have raised my kids on my own for many years, and there have been many times that I could barely afford to buy them enough. My sisters and I used to buy for each other . . . and husbands . . . and kids . . . but I opted out about 5 yrs ago mostly because I couldn't afford it. Besides that though, they both have plenty of money to buy whatever they want for themselves, and it was very tiring for me to go out shopping for something specific (and ON SALE!). Working full-time, raising two kids, all with MS . . . that was more then enough for me. I do still buy for the kids though, even my 30 yr old neice.

Of course that means that I don't get any gifts from them either, but that is ok by me. All that has ever really mattered to me is that the kids enjoy the festivities and I am quite used to not getting anything for any occasion anyway.

I think it is wonderful that your daughter took your husband out to get something. I hope it is something you really enjoy.

Cherie

I also do not have much Christmas spirit this yr. My DD is in NC, my Sis moved there and it's my first Christmas w/o my Mom...

I liked AMN"s post. It really made me think, but Cheryl hit the nail on the head.... I think the word DETACHED describes me exactly this yr. But, I have to say, I have a great DH who hounds me about what I want every yr. So, maybe I need to look at it from Cindy's point of view.

*if anyone tells her I said that, I'll deny it*

Isn't it over yet? Perk up, everybody, it's almost over and then we can get back to our normal mundane lives......which, for me, sucks anyway.

Sorry Folks for being a downer.

Christmas? Is it Christmas time? When did that happen? I think I will be skipping it this year.
(except I need to go Mass)

See Doydie!!! Miracles do occur. My MIL would never get a gift if it wasn't for me. But, I'm w/Sal.... Let's get back to the boring regular everyday stuff....

LOL, Sal, buck up! Only a week until the days start getting longer again, we can make it. C'mon, I need you guys to help me make it! Can anyone make it? Someone? Please???

This month, I find myself in the mood to take care of me for awhile. I'm not sure what's up with it, I just feel like I want to do more for myself lately. I can hardly move, dressing is nearly extinct and the weather is crap. I should take a trip.

A trip is an excellent idea...YES...An ocean liner out on the high seas with lots of muscley cabana boys on board, with you and me being waited on, hand and foot.
Anyone else wanna come along?

Capital idea, Sal! Let me make a few calls, I know some people connected to a sea-faring rat and his showtune posse. They have a gig in Orlando, but who wants to be there?

What do you think? 20 accessible staterooms enough?
