Joyce, honey, you can come and get all of our snow, come now, I insist!

We're up to a whopping 11° here already and it's still snowing. I'd guess we've had about 10" so far, but the real star of the show here is the steady winds at 30mph. Such a party! Blech.

After Michael and I were married we moved to Fla. where his family resides, and I don't think we lived on more than 1/2 an acre. We can practically see into our neighbours bathroom from one of our windows in this house, and the home that we were building did not have much more land than this.

When we were looking to move last year, it seemed like this was the norm in the suburbs of Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia as well. Who maintains all of your yard? I can't even imagine! It is quite beautiful though. I would love to live out in the fields with all it's natural beauty.

4 acres of the land is my tree nursery. I am a landscape designer and grow trees for part of my business and also sell to local nurseries. I have done this since 1996. The rest of the land is where our home is situated and access to the tree nursery. The actual landscaped portion of our place is 3/4 of an acre. It is very easy to maintain (thanks to my wisdom!). Automatic sprinkler system and low maintenance plants and grass that doesn't require that much mowing. I also have a riding mower! I do love to do yardwork, but alas! it is very difficult for me to do these days in the heat and I work. PODH doesn't so that job has now fallen to him - grumble grumble grumble!

There isn't much to maintaining of the tree nursery. Pruning in the spring and fall, spraying when the trees are dug for sale (easier to reach!), and then mowing between the rows once a month. We share a tractor with our neighbors. Another task for PODH - watching him wrangle the tractor the first couple of seasons was a hoot! Let's see, he took out a section of fence, part of the irrigation system and ran over his cell phone! He can taxi a 737 but could not drive a tractor! Go figure! And do you think he would listen to me! NO WAY! :p

He's gotten much better now - out of necessity. It got too expensive!

Anyway, that's the story of our land. Business. But, we do live in a farming community that is being encroached upon. We have city limits on two sides of us now. :(

It really is lovely though. Do you awaken to the sounds of nature in the morning rather than to the sounds of the school bus stopping in front of your home? It's rather quiet where we are-our subdivision is gated, but there are a number of school aged children who take the school bus in the mornings. Thus, the heavy traffic in and out of here every morning and afternoon.

I think I'd like to live out in the country. I'm not so sure Michael would know what to do with a tractor, and I know that I wouldn't have a clue.

Your business sounds wonderful. GOOD ON YOU!!!

We live at the end of Cul-de-Sac. So no traffic what so ever. It's great. There is a 40 acre farm to the west of us, 10 acres to the east of us, and the common area of the subdivision to our south.

Tractors are fun! ;)

I live in a one square mile boro. The houses are on a 65x125 lot. Have
lived here for 36 yrs. When we bought the place it was what we could afford.
Not what we wanted. All ways had plans to move to more land and a bigger
house. But was never able to.

In the beginning it was not bad. We had a lot of land around the Boro. Not many stores but now there is nothing but houses, houses, and stores and mini malls one after the other. It is horrible.

If my daughter moves to Kentucky where my son lives I'll be right behind her.

Cheryl if I had a freezer truck would come and get some of that snow. But I am sure in time we are going to get ours.

Joyce :):):)

Cheryl
I love the snow pics. We got about 4 inches yesterday lots of cold wind and drifts today. I didn't venture out and don't plan to for a couple days. I would love to live where you do and see all the gorgeous land. Oh and Holly looks wonderful. I should couldn't tell she's been through surgery recently. I'm sure it's the wonder care you give her. BTW, how are you faring?

Thanks Beth.

Holly is healing just fine! She so wanted to go romp in the snow today. We had a pair of red foxes playing in the field and she wanted to chase them. But no way - she'd be in the next county!

As for me - well, I am still stuffy but getting better. Just so tired. All I want to do is sleep. I am hoping that I will hear something soon from TriCare about the referral and get into see the ENT specialist about what's going on. Thanks for asking!
