The other night I was in bed and I was watching tv with my son. I had pins and needles/tingling sensation in my left outer thigh area. Next thing I know its traveling upward and inward up to my belly button area. This immediately followed by the entire area going numb. I am used to my hands going numb on a daily basis. Im used to the pin prick burning/stabbing sensation I get in my feet. But I have never had such a large area affected at once. It was the feeling , like when you go outside into the snow and your hands get really cold , they go numb and when you come back into the warm house, they burn and ache.
I also than had the left side of my face go numb. My eyelid on left side drooped. The droopy eyelid is very common for me though. So I went shopping yesterday. Im in the store and that overwhelming sensory overload thing happens. All of a sudden I feel Like Im high and everything in the store seems to be moving , I cant tell if Im standing still or moving. So I grab onto the shelf. My mom looks at me in a very familiar way, sadly. Shes like.. lets go. I will carry the bags for you. I had to close my eyes the entire drive home. Dont worry I wasnt driving.. I cant drive anymore.Anything that made my eyes move made me nauseated. I am definately in a flare. Has anyone had an attack like this though? Where the numbness / pins and needles attacks a large section of your body . Im so off balance its ridiculous. Im constantly grabbing walls and stuff to hold onto. Im pretty sure its centered around my eyes. Im also wondering if this everything moving or is it me moving thing.. is that vertigo? WOW this is long sorry lol... I am just venting! |

It sure sounds like a call to your neuro is in order. Take care of yourself and feel better.

Yes, the feeling like everything is moving sounds like vertigo. Definitely call your Neuro. With the new symptoms and everything, it's best to be seen. I hope you feel better soon and this flare heads out quickly!

Definately agree about the vertigo, its the pits! as for the large area affected, a few weeks ago i went to bed with pins and needles in my left hand and arm, in the morning i woke with my left arm and shoulder feeling as though i slept akwardly and it had gone to sleep. It did improve a bit over the next few hours in that i could move it but it felt very heavy, but i still had decreased senation to most of my hand and arm. Now, it still feels heavy at the shoulder, my hand varies from pins and needles to numbness and lack of strength particularly my thumb, index finger and middle finger- it gets worse as i am tired, i am still recovering from a series of flares so i am hoping that things improve a bit but i am still getting new minor symptoms, eg the left side of my face went tingly the other day and then gradually went numb like i have been given a shot of lidocaine- it has eased back a bit but is still decreased sensation. As for the size of the area that is affected, it seems to be like evrything else with this disease, it seems that it varies from person to person, i know of someone who had the just about the whole right side affected as if they had had a stroke and i know i have had some small areas like a small area on my foot- just depends where those plaques form i guess
