My motto is, "It's always 5:00 somewhere in the world". Tis true, usually when I'm having my MRI's it's almost or past 5 p.m. in GB.:p I know my family would want me to be well cared for. Am I right? Just think like a Brit. Miller is a very common British name, and it's now 1:54 a.m. in GB. Drink up girl!!!!

Racheal,
Rachealrachealracheal!

If this continues, clonezapam works wonders for me. Never had an issue with anxiety until the wreck years ago. (I should probably post the whole story somewhere). I drank my worries away. ---Not bragging, I'm a recovering alcoholic.

So DUI, many broken bones, and then the delirium tremens hit (drying out). I had to be tied to the bed. I don't remember any of this because of the traumatic brain injury, coma, and morphine drip. (Parents recounted the story for me). So they put me on clonezapam and antibuse and a whole list of pills.

Anyway, all that faded out and I was feeling better until 2 summers ago. Like you said, some symptoms give us no warning. I'd be outside, enjoying the day and BANG! I would suddenly feel 'crowded' and scatterbrained. Not just cog-fog, something worse than that.

So I go to my PCP, explained that it was happening once a week or so and she put me on 0.5mg of clonezapam. I have since had to bump it up to 1mg a day.

I'm not proud I need ADs and antianxiety, but I'm glad I take them.:o:)

If this continues, please get the help you need to keep it in check.

Thanks Rex,
I have been sedated in my day. The first MRI I had I was well wasted on Xanex.
However, after I started having open MRI's and could sit up I was coping well, until yesterday.

 I'm slightly clastophobic so understand. Acually it's the feeling of being trapped, so I hate, hate, hate the "cage" they have to put over my head.

My "regular" MRI place pipes music through headphones and offers one of those sleeping masks for the eyes if needed. I use them, otherwise I would freak everytime I went in. My first MRI place had neither and I would routinely get panic attacks there.

Know you are not alone.

NL, you are certainly not alone!

I've had lots of MRI's with no problems but last time I did start getting a tad panicky. And yeah, what Fin said - I hate that cage thing they put over your head! They give me headphones and ask what music station I prefer but inevitably it's not set perfectly on the station and there's a lot of static, which adds to the noise of the machine - not comforting at all! I had trouble holding still for so long, which I think added to the panic feeling.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've never had any problems with the technicians. Inform your Dr. ahead of time, and he or she will let the imaging centre know that you are prone to panic attacks.

It's quite common. People aren't meant to be in those machines with such loud noises sober...:D

Yup, that would do me in. LOL. I am a light weight and once took too much Lorazepam. I fell asleep in the tube and typical MS crud, I kept jerking and was SNORING!!! I never snore. They had to keep doing it over and talking to me to keep me awake. I know better now. Don't go so looped up. .5 mg is enough. LOL

I hate hate hate MRIs. they need to sedate me for an OPEN one, let alone a closed one. :(

:grouphug: you are in good company
