Default My neuro appt

Hi gang!

Would have gotten back with you sooner, but life kinda got in the way.

I had a good visit though.

Had to use my cane because my hip was (is) still bugging me. So we always go over my meds anyway, but he asks about the pain.

I'm only on topamaz dailly. I have relpax as needed, and zanaflex. I took 2 since I got them in November.

"I've already tried every trick in my bag, I'm afraid," he admits.

"I'd rather deal with how I am than the pills anyway, really. Some of them don't work at all. Some do then stop. But even those, they make me so tired. And most days I'm sleeping 12 hours," I said.

"So tell me, what's worse, the pain or the fatigue?"

I thought about that and said." Fatigue I think. Because you can do some things - not everything, but some things - you can work through pain. But what can you do asleep?"

I told him I was supposed to go back to the pain doc, that he wanted to do those facet joint shots. And he says the pain doc should maybe think about some narcotics for me. I thought he (the neuro) might say that, if he thinks so, but I wasn't going to - not my place. I know waht the pain guy wants to do, so how would I bring narcotics up, kwim?

I think the neuro may just call the pain guy and say something for me. Honestly, when I had my surgery, I never felt better than with that vicodin rx on board.

But since then, nobody wants to talk about that, nobody wanted to hear *pain*.

Now 10 years of pain later, 4 ESIs, I know I can take it and I don't need no scripts, thank you - and they wanna help me get some. Go figure.

But anyhoo, no new meds, no tests, no crazy stuff. Life is good.

Beer anyone?

Aw, Brain, it is so frustrating, isn't it? I'm sorry you're in pain like that. So, there is no hope of getting on vicodin again?

Hang in there, kiddo.

*popping a Sam Adams, Cherry Wheat* What'll ya' have?

Pain? Pain and Ms don't go together. So say the Drs. The Drs are in denial big time. Take your cane and smack em' on the head. Tell em' that is pain! If you want something for it, I do hope you get something.

Sam Adams? Here ya go! I'm having a Dirty Bastard, lol. Scottish ale. Cheers!

Hey friends, I am okay. You know? Pain ain't nothin but a thing. I'd rather not have it but oh well. Could be worse - could be not having my hands.

ain't had so much as a tylenol in 3 years.

Not because I'm so tough. It was supposed to be, so I could learn I COULD, do you dig it?

Bob Ross said ( the painting guy from PBS) "You made no mistakes - it's YOUR painting. You meant it to be like that."

He was right.

I realize that I can only put so much in my little handbag or the trunk of my Mustang. And I accept them like they are. I LOVE them like they are. I'm gonna love me that way too.

I'm gonna live like I'm a teenager, it's summer vacation, and this body is the sports car my parents gave me LOL.

Hey, pizza's here! Woohoo!

The vicodin does it for me too. Its hard to explain that when you have chronic pain you need this stuff. I for one, HATE taking pills. But I like quality of life better. When I have them, I'm up and doing things, going places, sleeping all night....and I have a good attitude.

Like you, I've gone years without them....and it can lead to some very depressing moments. I've learned to cut them in half to make them last...and use the zanaflex at night to relax.

I hope they throw you a 'bone' so you can get some relief, if even for a while.
