Confused My LP might have just been a waste of time (and a he!! of a lot of pain).

I emailed my neuro's PA yesterday when I saw that there WAS serum listed on my LP (remember they did not draw blood from me the day of my LP). Anyway I asked about the Serum and reminded her they didn't draw blood from me and she emailed me back saying they used the blood from 2 days earlier. So I emailed back and said I thought the blood had to be drawn at the same time or at least less than 24 hours. Well I get an email back this morning saying that as long as the blood is within ONE WEEK it's OK to use. I looked online and I can't find where that's right, I keep reading blood needs to be drawn the same day as the LP.

I understand that if you don't have O-Bands than they look at the CSF IgG Index number but that number is based on CSF & Blood Serum so if my blood wasn't drawn at the right time than this CSF IgG Index isn't going to be right. This this correct?

I'm trying to get everything ready for the new neuro but I don't want to hand over my LP report if it might be wrong with-out telling him that the blood wasn't drawn at the right time.

I don't think any of us could answer that with any certainty, but you could ask a doctor on this site:
