Sorry you're in a flair...I'm in one, too, so I can sympathize.

As for the mobic...my friend takes is daily for her back. She has a ... uh ... what do you call it when the thing between the vertebrae squishes out?

O.K....that sounds like a second grader just asked that question doesn't it?

It's on the tip of my tongue but I can't come up with it.... anyway, she might have to have the vertebrea fused together and she has a lot of pain and swelling so she takes mobic for pain.

Apparently, it works, but not nearly as good as...O.K., now I can't remember what it doesn't work as well as. There was a REALLY good drug, but it was taken off the market.

OOOH-OOOOH...I just remembered, the really good drug was celebrex...I think!

FFM - Sorry about the flare. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I am not much help on the med. I do not have any experiences to share with you. Sorry.

As for the munchies, well, I never experienced that with the 'roids. The 'roids upset my stomach too much to eat. Not to mention they increase my fatigue and I end up like a blob on the couch and it is far too much work to get up and get something to eat. Therefore, DDs make me all sorts of smoothies - fruit ones, veggie ones, etc. so that I am at least taking in something. If I know that I will be going on IVSM, we will make them ahead of time so that I can just go to the freezer pull one out, let it thaw, and just drink that.

Let us know how you are doing.

FFM-
Sorry you're feeling poorly, my dear

I've been on Mobic (Meloxicam is the generic) for a couple of years-was put on it when Vioxx was pulled.
I have arthritis and degenerative joint disease in my back, knees, elbows and my left sacroiliac joint, which is the most painful of all the joints. OTC antiinflammatories weren't working anymore.
Mobic works great on the pain. I notice right away when I don't take it--my SI joint gets almost unbearable.
Try it for a while and see if it decreases the pain.

FFM,

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well and doing another round of 'roids. I've not heard of Mobic myself but I sure hope it gives you some pain relief quick.

Hey Kay
Sad to hear you are on the steroids. They are nasty stuff. I hope they make you feel better soon.

Good Luck with the Mobic. I've sent healing thoughts and prayers your way.

I hope Mobic works for you, it apparently does for some people.
It was prescribed for me when Vioxx was pulled off the market and it (Mobic) did nothing for me.

I know I'm a "stranger" but can I send s too?
I'm sorry you're not doing too well.

Sorry to hear you are having a flare at the moment, i too can sympathise as i have had multiple flares since october and have had 12 or 13 admissions to hospital ( i have been in more than i have been at home!) and 5 courses of IV steroids and some bursts of oral steroids- i will be so glad when it stops

As for the mobic, as the others have said, it has been around for quite a while, it is a cox inhibitor and from what i have witnessed in my days on the wards, it is generally well tolerated

I really hope you start to feel a bit better soon!

Let us know how the Mobic works, will ya Kay? I am very interested as am having the worst back pain right now. The Tramadol is like taking a baby aspirin. It's just not cutting it.

Is Mobic considered a narcotic? What drug classification is it under?

Sorry for all the ???'s, I'm just in need of something to settle this back down. I'm having an MRI next wk.... Hope you feel better..

No it's not a narcotic DM. It's an anti-inflammatory like Ibrufen.
