Default The drug companies....

Okay, so I'm in a very grouchy mood and want to complain (sorry)... Maybe it's cuz I'm just feeling SO sick

When I was on copaxone (for a month!) - I used to joke that if they just stopped sending me STUFF - maybe they could lower the cost of the shots so that they didn't cost roughly $65 a day. Sigh. I was at the neuro's office two weeks ago - and commented, upon looking around the office - that it looked like the drug co's all exploded in the waiting room - and I made that comment about the shot - and a woman sitting there just screamed, "Good lord - how much money?!"

Last night I joked with some people in a MS support group that I felt like if I asked the people at Shared Solutions to come blow my nose for me that they would!

Of course, now that I'm switching to Tysabri - I find myself almost missing Shared Solutions - as the Tysabri (TOUCH) people stink, as far as I'm concerned. I find that Shared Sols was very proactive...and I feel like the TOUCH people must twiddle their thumbs a lot. Of course, I'm just dying (ha ha) to get on this med, which might kill me, give me liver poblems and or melanoma - but I don't care - I just want on it NOW....and I feel like they drag their feet over there. When I call, they give different stories each time - I say stories b/c it doesn't even seem like answers. I know it is a LONG process - a lot more steps than just shipping out a bunch of shots to me....but still.

Okay - so what's your favorite "give away" from a drug company?

Shared Solutions gave me a very nice messenger style bag (with a ton of Copaxone propaganda inside) that I use as a crochet bag. Just the right size for a few skeins of yarn and my crochet hooks.

The really nice binder with the C propaganda in it makes a good binder to keep crochet patterns in.

My dad is a nurse anesthetist and my aunt is a nurse practitioner. Both of them come home with all sorts of freebies from the drug companies. My aunt gives them away as gifts. A few years ago, she had a couple of really nice remote control cars with Viagra plastered all over them that she gave to my cousin's husbands.

When I was in grade school, if any of my pens got stolen by the other kids, it was easy to identify my pens, since they all had drug company names on them. Plus, a lot of the pens were shaped like little syringes...

My dad just gave me a keychain that he got from the hospital (has the name of the hospital on it) that has a little red colored flashlight in it. Came in really handy last week when my optic nerve was all ticked off at me. I kept using the little red light to see if my color vision was going wonky on me.

The only thing drug companies seem to enjoy sending me is bills..I did get a lot of useless junk when I started Rebif and Copaxone, but trashed most of that..I must have been on their "naughty" list..
