root canal here, last spring, plus Trigeminal Neuralgia added to the fun 'n' games.

so, they extracted the tooth, then I got "dry socket"

that whole month is a BLUR in my memory, but I sorta remember what HELPED knock down the pain, like... alternating HOT wet washcloths (that were heated in the microwave) with zip-lock baggies with two or three cubes of ICE.

and one tablet of Fioricet (generic = Butalbital) every 4 to 6 hours also helped.

our thoughts and prayers are with you, as you deal with this horrible thing.

sometimes I think dental-area pain is the WORST, because it's so... invasive... so hard to block OUT.

I'm sorry you are not well, Snoodles. I just came home from the Dr., and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. This has got to stop. We all need to go on holiday and get to feeling better.

Dear Snoodles,

I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering. No easy way to put it when dealing with an absessed tooth, migrains, and other symptoms. It sure seems like the dentist could bring you in on an emergency basis to get the tooth taken care of.

I'm a dental phobic but I like pain even less.

Sending healing thoughts your way.

Feel better Snoodles.... Toothaches are murder... Are you on an antibiotic or pain meds???? I have had several root canals and the only pain I suffered from was the bill.. Hope your pain subsides soon..

Sheeesh, all that going on with test results, and on top of of it you have to have an abcessed tooth and the torture that goes with it?

Sounds nightmarish. I sure hope the antibiotiotics kick in fast.

Thank you ALL for your very kinds words of encouragement !!!

Believe it or not (and I'm sure if any group of people can understand - it is you all!!!) I am still sick !

I had my root canal - 5 hours in the dental chair - seriously - not even stretching it - 5 HOURS !!!! And, to beat it all, the procedure is only 1/2 done. This tooth had a crown on it which had to first be removed, then the roots have significant curves which all just made the procedure that much longer.

The tooth is much, much better - still pain but nothing like it was. I just cannot get past the migraines and the ear pain. During this whole mess, my left ear apparently ruptured as I woke one morning with drainage from my ear (sorry if TMI). The swelling is down but I am up now - and have been up for several hours due to this relentless migraine and I cannot take any more Imitrex until 6:30 am - so I am just waiting.

As for all the medical tests - turns out my doctor wanted me to come in to the office so she could talk with me (rather than by phone), but I have been so sick that I have twice cancelled appointments but I do plan to go in this morning at 10:00 (assuming the Imitrex kicks in and it normally does).

Sooooo, I do feel better but I still feel awful if that makes sense. I haven't worked in over 2 weeks now but plan to go back Monday. I have honestly, long since passed the time that I should have stopped working. I am just not up to it anymore but I am a widow with no big pools of money lying around so it is a major dilema (that I know MANY of you also face this same struggle)...

Thanks again for all the replies and in spite of all my complaining and whining about how bad I feel at least I am FINALLY feeling good enough to sit at my computer and make a few posts and do some reading and catch up a little on everybody here !!!

Note - I cannot get spellcheck to work for some reason so please excuse my speelingt !!!

Maybe once this dental work is done, you'll feel better. Take care and hope you feel better soon.

Bless your heart . . . you have really been through it here lately. I'm glad you're at least feeling a little better although not 100% yet.

I wish there was something I could do for you - make you supper, bring you some chicken soup or a book to read or something!

I hope you feel better soon - and don't return to work if you're not feeling up to it. I know, I know...easier said than done sometimes. I can't tell you how many times I drug myself into the office when I had no business being there. Now, since I work from home, I wonder how I'll call in sick!!

Feel better, Snoodles!!
