You do sound upbeat and energetic! Becky told me about the thread and I've not been on in awhile, so came to check it out. Thanks Sandy and everyone else who prayed for Becky!

Becky, so nice to hear from you. I've been thinking about you and hoping you were healing fast. It sounds like you are doing fine. I'm sooo glad.

You rest and take good care of yourself. Looking forward to your full return..

Becky wrote to tell me she is still recovering and anxious to get on the boards. Here's her email.

I'm doing fine. The swelling is completely gone now but I still have some bruising and am very sensitive in the chest area. The incision looks gross but normal. The sterile strips are supposed to come off as it heals. None of them have come off yet and I am leaving that alone.

I am able to use my right arm from the elbow down but if I do too much it makes my muscle spasms worse. I should be able to use my arm on April 2nd, that will be 3 weeks after the surgery. I can't wait to be able to get dressed and raise my arm. LOL

My plans for today are taking a shower, taking my Avonex shot and sleeping. Woohoo!!

Thanks again for all your well wishes to Becky. I am sure the thoughts and prayers are working and she will be back on here whooping some butt in the game room real soon!

Ok, got a new email from our Becky. This was after her follow up with the doctor.

Becky's Update:

My Dad took me to my follow up appt. on Tuesday morning. The pacemaker tech checked the pacemaker and everything is all set to keep my heart rate above 60 beats per minute.

The visit was fascinating as the pacemaker tech was explaining to Dad and I how it worked. It is like a little computer that monitors every beat of my heart. They are sending me a computer device that plugs into my home phone and it transmits data directly to my Cardiologists office. I feel like the Bionic Woman! LOL

This is completely different from my old pacemaker. It was just checked every 4 weeks at a specific time to see if it was working.

In 3 months, I am supposed to put this device over the pacemaker and all of the data will download to the doctor's office. It will show him any rhythm disturbances and when they occurred. It has a built in Holter Monitor so it can constantly monitor the heart. I will visit my Cardiologist every 6 months in his office and tech will check it and adjust anything if necessary. If I feel anything unusual, I can send the info to them immediately and not have to wait for an appointment.

I just need a little more time for the incision and surrounding area to heal. I am still bruised and very tender to anything touching it. It really hurt after the testing and being dressed for the first time in 2 weeks but it was wonderful to get out of the house. I changed into my gown as soon as I got home to get the pressure off the incision site. I am such a slow healer but it is getting better everyday. The incision site and under my arm pit are the only places that hurt now. The arm pit muscle spasms are really painful and I'm sure it doesn't help with me holding my arm down all the time.

Next Wednesday, I can lift my right arm above my shoulder. Woohoo!! Maybe I can get back on the board and check out what is going on soon. I have checked an continue to be amazed at the posts of good wishes for me. I didn't know I had so many friends. LOL

My best friend, Linda's 25 year old grandson's kidney transplant has been scheduled for April 10th. We just found out yesterday. He has been in complete kidney failure for months and on dialysis. Linda's oldest son, Rod, is donating to Gary his son. Linda is a nervous wreck and so excited at the same time. It is extremely hard for her since it is her son donating a kidney to her grandson. Her youngest son was killed in a car accident in 1999. I think I may have told you about that. She is very optimistic that everything will be ok but has told me that she didn't know what she would do if anything went wrong. I have got to get myself all healed up so I can be there with her during this surgery.

Talk to you soon.
Love & Hugs
