i have to go for a CT scan of my head for non MS reasons.. (bad sinus pressure and some growth my ENT saw when he stuck that little camera probe thing up my nose) but i didn't know where else to ask this on this board... so is a CT like a MRI or is it less of a pain in the butt? i know i had one ages ago but i cant remember much about it..

I would rather have a CT scan than an MRI. In a CT scan you are not shoved into a toliet paper roll!!
It is very simular only the tube is not nearly as long or narrow. You will still have contrast I would guess. LA Quote:

CT Scan is nothing like an MRI. No NOISE! That's the one thing you will notice right off!
I just went through the same thing you are for a severe sinus infection. I had to have 2 CT scans...piece of cake, they take about 5 minutes and you are done!

I had a CT scan today; took about five minutes and very comfortable.
You are not in a tube; just an open halo like machine. No noise; just a gentle hum and that's it! ![]()

![]() Hope all goes well for you and the ENT gets you all fixed up. Hey, did he leave that little camera in your sinuses? Maybe you could hook it up to a webcam so we could all get a look??? ![]()

Punk,
Hope they find out what's causing your problem. You, your dad and your little doggie are in my thoughts ![]() I had a follow up question. When I was in the hospital they did a Cat scan and they put some type of dye in my veins. I've had many MRIs with the dye, but this dye set my arm on fire. It was very painful. The contrast they used for my MRIs never did that. Anyone know what the difference is? They also wanted me to drink barium for the scan but I kept throwing it up. Sorry but in my experience I would take an MRI over a Cat scan anytime.
