Hey, I'm not complaining!
![]() Collagenase-2 is a member of a protein family called matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs, collagenase-2 is MMP8), a large group of enzymes that break down collagen and other components of the body's connective tissue. MMPs have been implicated in contributing to MS by degrading the tissue that maintains the blood-brain barrier, thus allowing unwanted cells to invade and break down nerves. http://www.genengnews.com/news/bnite...?name=32831521 |

Thanks Beary, I received an e-mail about this. It's not exactly new, about the MMP9s being harmful to PwMS, but they're finally catching up..
It's a slow process, but, one day, I hope we'll get there.

Thanks, Sally. Breaches in the BBB are very interesting to me and I try to do things that strenghten the barrier. Before I posted this I did a search and the only thing I saw on Collagenase-2 was on the Parkinson's board. There's an interesting conversation about the BBB there.

thanks for posting that, it was interesting.
for about 10 years, I stopped closely following all the MS news, maybe because my brain was so foggy, it was hard to keep it all straight, lol! so, I'm sorta playing catch-up now. ![]()
