Default Tovaxin Update

I have officially finished Phase IIb - double blind phase of the Tovaxin clincial trial today. For those of you who have known me for awhile, can you believe it's been a year?

I spent the day at the hospital today getting my blood drawn (oh Taffy, don't look!), MRI, complete physical, neuro exam and then I signed the consent forms for entering Phase III, OLTerms, or Open Label Terms study.

I will know in two weeks if I am still producing those Myelin Reative T-cells so they can make the vaccine. This time I will know if I get the real stuff and not placebo.

They won't unblind us until sometime in November when all 150 of us have officially completed the entire trial. All 150 of us have been dosed, but some have not completed the observation portion of the trial.

That's what I know so far. There have been no adverse events reported in Phase I or II and the drug has been in the system since 1991.

I know that there has been a lid on too much communication about the trial (for good reason, I suspect), but when are you permitted to talk more about the trial, Cheryl? I've been curious about some things . . .

Cherie

There are some things that I can answer, and some I cannot. A lot of the study results are being presented at the AAN Conference.

I do not know if I was receiving placebo or real drug. That is one thing for sure I can answer.

Have you heard from Sweetyhide lately? Did she get into the OLTerms study?

I'm looking forward to the AAN Conference information, for learning more about Tovaxin, and to see how the LDN trials panned out too. I have had a good feeling about Tovaxin from the get-go, and really hope the trial results are positive.

Sweety is doing pretty good. She doesn't know whether she was on the real thing or not either, but I think she suspects she wasn't. She made improvements overall, but I think this may have had more to do with Copaxone not agreeing with her (and getting off of it). Who knows though.

Yes, she has been accepted in the next part of the process, but has recently come down with a cold/virus so I think her first "for sure/real" treatment might have been delayed. I'll see if she can come on and update you herself (she is a member here, but haven't seen her post here in a while).

Well, I'll leave my questions till after the AAN meeting, as you will likely have more freedom to decipher the information at that time . . . .

Wow Cheryl, that went by fast! You're such a trooper for all you've gone through for this trial! I hope you and all the other Tovaxin patients have great results!

Thank you for what you have done! Now on to Phase 3!

(You are suppose to warn me first....not mention the BD thing first....

(Guess who was supposed to get her "B" checked and has not done that yet?)
(Anyone what to watch me faint?)

Thank you FG!
