Default What is your opinion on DMD?

I was diagnosed with MS in August 2007 posted once before about Neurontin.Well have another question I have been taking Rebif every since I was diagnosed but I literally feel like a different person than when I wasn't taking it.I have been debating quit taking it but I really don't know that it is helping me or not. I just wonder about what others opinions are. They found several lesions on my MRI and have said that I should take it for the rest of my life but after giving these injections I feel bad the following day.Any help greatly appreciated.

On the other hand the post about them upping my Neurontin they went back down to normal dose 900 mg 3 times a day.Added Provigil C for energy I work 50 hrs a week and Nortriptyline each night for the pain in my legs. Plus of course the IV Steroids for the optic neuritis and ms flare up. I personally just want to be my normal self so I can function. Hugs to all.

Just take a deeeeep breathe and wait. It all takes time. I remember after my worst excacerbation that I thought I would never be the same. I sold all my counted cross stich things, down to the last needle. Well about a year later I started having the cross stitch itch again and bought a fairly easy pattern that had everything in it. After that I had to re-buy everything. I have now gone from cross stitching to quilting. You have to let your mind, body and emotions heal.

As far as the DMD go, I was diagnosed in 2/07 and started on Avonex shortly after. Yes, I had a doozy of an exacerbation in '99 that took me off work but my MRI last December looks the same as it did in '97. Is it because of my Avonex? I don't know, but I don't want to risk going off it.

Are you post-medicating with something? I've been on R for 4 years now and I'll still feel like crud at some point the following day - so I pop some advil and I'm as good as new. Make sure you're drinking lots of water and post medicating and maybe that will help.

If the above aren't working, there's no need to be miserable. You've given it a fair try for about 8 months now. If you're ready to throw in the towel, there are other meds. you could try if you're so inclined. Copaxone doesn't have any flu like side effects and Tysabri is only once/month.
I hope you feel better soon.

I have heard you can pre-medicate as well (tylenol or advil and take the shot a few hours before bed so you get the symptoms while you are sleeping). As far as whether it is doing any good, with the unpredictability of this disease, I would say who knows? That is one reason I have not decided whether I want to go on DMD's especially right now (life is very busy and hectic)
I have also heard it can take 6 months to a year for your body to get used to the DMDs and for you to experience no s/s from them.

Now you say you aren't feeling the same. Is that as in depression or mood? Interferons can change moods because they lower you serotonin level. Some people have suicidal ideations and severe depression from this. If this is how you are feeling, you may want to look into an anti-depressant, or if you go the more natural route, look into adding some amino acids that increase serotonin.
