The steroids usually pack their punch when they've all united to fight evil. I'd guess about Sat./Sunday you might notice some effects, it may be a week or more. Be full of patience, my little lambchop, anxiety and agitation will aggravate all antagonists!;)

Steroids have always helped me tremendously. However, it usually feels worse before it gets better. Hang in there and rest as much as possible.

I agree with everyone who said you need to protect your stomach. Also, don't hesitate to call the neuro and ask for some Ambien if you can't sleep. I sleep more on roids, but I'm not normal, most people can't sleep well on them.

One thing I usually do with the roids is stock up on high potassium snacks / drinks. That stuff seriously screws up my potassium levels which makes me feel even worse. My favorites are canteloupe, dried apricots, and V8 with calcium (high in both calcium and potassium). I also drink Gatorade to help with other electrolytes.

Good luck on the psych test.

How are you today Char? I hope you got to bed when you got home yesterday and was able to rest.

Sorry - I had a crazy/busy day at work today. Ended up working late and now I am putting off writing the 2 page essay, 1 page self assessment, 1 page extra credit report and studying for the Psychology final. Deep Breath!

I didn't sleep all that well last night, very restless. I haven't felt much relief as of yet but as you all have said 3 days so I am hoping tomorrow I do. My legs are both full of spasms today but I have been on them most of the morning and then road in the car for quite a bit of driving back and forth to the car auction twice! (28 miles each way) I am so freakin tired right now and would love to get to bed but to much to do... so on that note/type I am clicking on Microsoft Word to start typing away.

Think of me about 1:35 Eastern Standard Time tomorrow as I sit down to take my Psychology final. Send me good vibes and well wishes.

Hang in there honey!! {{{{Char}}}}

DM 04-23-2008 07:35 PM

Hi Char~ I have taken the oral roids a few times and yes, you need to eat while on them, BUT my problem was that I totally lost my appetite while on them, so lost weight.

They did help and as I remember, I had to get a few days in me to see results. Hope you can get some good rest squeezed in wherever you can. I know, hard to do...

I'm thinking of ya.

Thanks Jess - I smile every time I see your "Everyone should have a Jess" I love that!

I am the same way DM - I have forced myself to eat every morning and at night for dinner. I am not hungry at all. But, that has been for a couple of weeks. Everything taste nasty... and these roids leave a terrible nasty taste in my mouth!

I know get back to work.... two papers down one to go and then on to cramming!

Charlotte, honey, steroids are not "chewable", you're supposed to swallow them whole. ;) I could have told you that sooner, but it has kind of been crackuppin' me a bit.;)

Remember that you have been learning this stuff for school, not just marathon memorizing. You know the material, get it fresh in your mind and trust the knowledge! You'll do well, trust yourself!

Do let yourself sleep, my little lambchop!

yeahbut 04-23-2008 08:16 PM

Thanks Koala love that bear....

Now you tell me Cindy - I tried to take the 4 of them all at once - one got stuck in my throat and had to take a second drink of water.... YUCK! note to self, two at a time.

When I did oral roids, I had to take them with milk because I could taste them too much with the water. They disolve super fast, so I had to take a swallow of milk first then toss the pill in and chug it all down. You are lucky it's only four. I had to take 12 at a time!

Okay, down the drugs, get some coffee and it's off to ace your exam. You'll do great, stay focused and apply your knowledge to your writing, let the information live within your answers! Go get 'em kiddo, you'll be great!

yeahbut 04-24-2008 09:22 AM

I stayed up till 11 trying to study until my eyes wouldn't stay open any longer. I planned to get up early this morning but that didn't happen, had all I could do to crawl out of bed at 7:00.... which was a half hour late!

Alls I can do is my best and if my best isn't good enough today then there will have to be a next time. I am not going to stress myself out....

but, please keep your fingers crossed for me!

That is why I am so glad my new neuro believes in IVSM. I'd rather have the needle!

Char - Good luck with the LP. Don't get up too soon, take it easy.

See my post about her LP. Maybe I should have just posted it here since everyone seems to be posting here. But I started a new thread...:p
