Hi Everyone,
Has anyone taking Tysabri noticed a change in their blood pressure? Mine has dropped considerably. I'm actually weaning off my BP pills because it's so low. I had to quit drinking coffee for my stomach problem, but that can't be it. I still take a caffeine pill in the morning. I'm down to low dose BP pills and just checked my pressure and it was about 95/60 or thereabouts. This for a person who normally had some really bad issues with BP for several years. My high BP is primary, or not a secondary issue that I know of? My heart and other factors are fine. BTW, I'm extremely HAPPY about this! ![]()

Hiya Wiz!
I've never had any issues with BP. Mine has always been low and hasn't changed. I still think this has to do with inflammation being reduced. Whatever is causing it, it's a good thing, and as long as your doc doesn't think anything is wrong, celebrate! Have a glass of wine!! ![]()

Sounds like a good thing for you Elizabeth.
![]() Over the years, I've actually heard of far more people with low (rather then high) blood pressure with MS, something that I've been meaning to do more research on actually. I have always had very low blood pressure, and it does not matter how inflammatory the disease process is or isn't at the moment. So, if it has anything to do with Tysabri reducing inflammation, and hence reducing bp, that principle should apply to everyone, whether their bp is ususally high, or usually low. Have you reduced any other drugs, by chance? Are you feeling better and getting more exercise, cooking more at home, eating better, craving less salt, etc? Or, is it possible the Tysabri is working to encourage the bp meds somehow? You might have to start keeping a bag of pretzels in the house for the opposite problem now . . . TOO LOW bp is a whole new kettle of fish, and can make us feel bad too. Hopefully it won't end up there though. ![]() Cherie

I don't know what else it could be Cherie, unless I have less stress than I used to?
I eat about the same, but I had to cut out coffee for my irritable stomach. I exercise as much as I can, which isn't much. My meds have been the same for a long time. Although, I think I might have started taking Cymbalta around the same times as Tysabri. But I'd been on other AD's before that. Oh well, I'll take the benefit! I like cutting pills out of my regimen!

Were the A/D's you were using (prior to Cymbalta) not working so well? If so, or if something in them disagreed with your body, it may be that Cymbalta is the ticket (for reducing your bp).
I tried Prozac for about 6 weeks one time and I thought I was having a heart attack. My chest hurt all the time, I felt anxious (for the first time in my life), and I felt palpitations almost 24 X 7. I never had that problem with Celexa or Wellbutrin though. No doubt my bp was skyrocketing with the Prozac though. ![]() I was having high cholesterol prior to LDN, and since then, have had no problem what-so-ever. Some others that I know have had the same results . . . but not everyone. Every drug effects each of us differently, and the disease does too. Since inflammation does not cause an upward change to MY bp, it doesn't mean it won't to yours. I think it would be a shot in the dark to assume that's the reason for the change though, unless most everyone was experiencing this. ![]() Cherie

Hi everyone,
This is strange, but for what it's worth, I got high blood pressure two months after starting Tysabri, after always having low blood pressure of 70/110 or 70/100. I've been on Tysabri for 7 months, and the pressure is now high, and I am about to start meds for it. Love the results of Tysabria, however. Blessings to all. |
