Default Steroid Question

Ok, I am on my third day of Steroids.... I am feeling some relief with the numbness but my legs are weak, but I had a friend tell me that was normal.

My question is.... I am not hungry - I am making myself eat with them and then not wanting to eat the rest of the day. Has anyone else experienced this?

Since I can't eat in the morning before my LP I am not going to take them until I get home - is this sound ok?

I guess that is two questions.... is that my limit? Opps 3

Heart

Char

Do what you need to do get through tomorrow! I am sure that since your LP is early that sliding the schedule for the oral pred isn't going to matter that much.

I don't get hungry at all with the IVSM...no you are not crazy! Not everyone reacts the same way to the steroids, even the oral ones. Don't worry. Just remember to try to eat something with them because they will wreak havoc on your stomach...even if it's just a slimfast shake or something along those lines. It will help.

And you can ask as many questions as your little ol' heart desires!!!

I didn't get the munchies on the roids either, but as FG says....you must eat something with them 'cos they can cause stomach erosion. Yuk!

It won't hurt to take them after the lumbar puncture, but steroids are reknowned for keeping people awake, or making them hyperactive, so hopefully you'll be able to get them down before it gets too late in the day.

It WILL go well for you tomorrow Yabbit. I can feel it in me water....

Hi Char,

I don't get hungry from them either, in fact I lost ten pounds with the first treatment.

If you're going to skip a dose or take it later, maybe you should take it with you just in case. When I tried to skip doses while still at a high dose schedule, I got sick with tremors and shaking, and if that happened it might not be good for the LP.

i have been on roids way too many times, the ones for ms dont seem to react with me the same way prednisone (sp?) does, the ones for my lungs are nasty, supr hyper and super hungry, the ones for MS the medra pak ones, i sleep on and thats taking 12 at a time, go figure, and i am not as hungry as when i am, on prednisone, the ones for my lungs

oh and if you have not learned yet dont let them sit in your mouth too long they dissolve fast and taste horrid talk about ruining your taste buds for a day

i hope they help you feel better real soon

I usually feel really weak while I am on roids and then slowly improve until one day I finally realize that I am much better.
