Default depression?/fatigue?.. what is my problem?

for the last month i have felt so drained.. all i want to do i lay down and recharge but i can never seem to get enough rest to keep me going all day...

ill go to sleep at night get about 7hrs or so (pretty normal for me) wake up feel ok and then about 2hrs later i am ready to crash out again.. i then have to take a nap for another 2-3 hrs to get some more energy back.. then ill get up and moving, do what i need to do ..and then need to nap again for a few hours.. by that time is bed time... ugh..

i kind of don't think this is depression because there is so much that i need/want to do my body just refuses to let me unless i follow it's rules of napping.. mentally i feel fine though.. maybe a little annoyed that i have to keep resting but thats about it..

what to you all think? and is there anything i can take/do to help with the fatigue.. i finally called my neuro about this but she hasn't got back to me yet.. at the moment i am thinking maybe just a truck load of coffee.. because provigil (sp?) is not an option for me..

Hi Punk! I've missed seeing you here! I'm sorry you're having such a time with the fatigue. I take Provigil and it's a wonder drug for me. Too bad you can't tolerate it. Does it give you headaches? It gave them to me but I kept taking it and now I don't get them but every so often.

There's got to be something else to take besides that, though. I think my neoro mentioned Amantadine as a possible substitution.

Good luck! I hope she can prescribe something that will get you moving again!

Hey Punk! I get that way too but usually it is during a flare. It is an awful feeling and that in itself can be depressing. It is kind of like a catch-22 situation.

I don't have any suggestions for you as I am not on anything for the fatigue. I do try to stick with a routine though and that seems to help.

Are you having any new symptoms or worsening of old? Is it possibly a flare?

Let us know how you are doing.

howdy punk sorry your feeling down, I get the same thing from time to time but usually it happens when i am having a relapse or flare, it stinks, just dont add to it by trying to force more into your day then you can handle. it will come back and bite you in the u know where there are other stimulants that you might be able to use I know when i am having a flare and even on provogil i sleep like you described, pretty sure that wasnt what u wanted to hear, sorry, its not you, your not going crazy, its the MS, its a pain

I just learned today, which I didn't know, sleep apnea is higher in people with MS and so my Dr is sending me for a sleep study to see if I have it. Do you think you could have this?
