Default Wal-Mart expands low-priced drug program

This is only in USA, as far as I know, but . . .

"Wal-Mart expands low-priced drug program

The world's biggest retailer offers 90-day prescriptions for $10 and more than 1,000 OTC drugs for $4 or less...."

http://money.cnn.com/2008/05/05/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

Here are some more good links:

Walmart pharmacy info:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catal...PageCatId=5431

$4 list of script drugs:
http://i.walmart.com/i/if/hmp/fusion..._drug_list.pdf
(this is a PDF file)

$4 list of OTC drugs:
http://i.walmart.com/i/if/hmp/fusion/OTC_drug_List.pdf

TARGET does $4 drugs too, and if Walmart is expanding their list, Target might too.

Targets $4 list:

:

my family goes to the eye doctor at Wal-Mart. He is very good and the priced is much more reasonable for the office call and for the glasses!

I now go to a specialist because the ms could complicate an eye issue I have, but the dr at Walmart was very knowledgable about MS and visited with me for quite a while after I was dx.

So maybe there is hope yet for the price of docs.

Default Way too much $

Well, speaking of costs of meds....I can not believe that I just had a $45 copay for an antibiotic! (45 is my max copay for a med...most are $15, some $30) Haven't antibiotics been 'round forever?! I was in shock when they told me the price. Not that I have a choice in the matter...I'm in total agony - my kidneys are killing me. I'm starting my 2nd course of antibiotics.

Oh, has anyone else heard that cipro is not good for those of us with MS - or did I make that up??? My doc (PCP) didn't seem to know.

Schnucks has a free antibiotic plan. They don't have a lot of antibiotics on it. Also you probably would have to have the list in hand when you taked to your doctor so you could make sure he ordered one of them and called it in to Schnucks.

Fred Meyer also has a large list of $4 generic drugs--I think 300 on the list.

www.fredmeyer.com/generic

For those who don't shop at Wal-Mart!

When I saw the sign in Freddy's about the $4 prescriptions, I said to an employee, "So, copying Wal-Mart, eh?"

He replied that Kroger (Fred Meyer's parent company) had actually planned the program before Wal-Mart, but didn't get it going before Wal-Mart did for some reason.

In any case... they've got 'em now! Yay!

I just checked out the wal-mart list. 2 of my 3 prescription drugs are on it. I pay ~ 75 cents a month for HCTZ and ~ a buck and a half for Lisinopril. Guess I'll keep going to Walgreens...

I'm pretty sure my plan is 80/20. If this is the case, HCTZ at $4 is more than full price at Walgreens. Just an observation.
