Question MS Wellness Expo

I don't know if this is just exclusive to an MS Center in GA or other centers do the same thing. There is a wellness expo in June talking about the immune system, talking about MS, cognitive impairments, and the world's slowest marathoner..it also has vendor exhibits.

I am torn - I want to go and learn about this disease I have but I also don't know if I want to drag myself and esp. sit for hours from 9am-3pm+. The program is only $5, I just don't know if anyone else has gone to this program before or is planning to go!

Call the MS Chapter Office, or go to their website and find out about it. See if you can go to just parts of it.

I know that our Chapter has also done the same thing and you can go for parts of it.

It's a great opportunity to pick up information.

I see that Dr. Ben Thrower is one of the speakers. He's good.

I'd go just to listen to him!

I probably will end up going. I am going to have to get my endurance up anyways if I'm going to sit in class at school in Aug. and work 24 hours in the week for my grad. internship. And.. I will meet other people locally with MS so I think I will go, thank you!

I think the sessions are duplicated - the same sessions are held morning and afternoon so everyone has a chance to attend. Plus, they know most of us can't manage to stay awake long enough for an entire day!! If I were you I'd plan on attending the AM sessions if possible because even on the weekends the traffic in Atlanta is horrendous in the afternoons.

I'm in the metro Atlanta area and might go.....maybe we can meet each other there!!

Kelly...

the traffic in Atlanta is horrendous ALL THE TIME!! Who do you think you are trying to kid!!! Sheesh!

Now, I will admit I've never actually lived there, but PODH has spent enough time there going to school for Delta that I am aware of the traffic, the humidity and all that goes with it!!! When it was an almost real possibility that he was going to get based there, I told him, have a nice time commuting cuz you can't pay me enough to live there!! LOL! He ended up getting based in Cincinnati and Dallas instead! I stayed here in Boise! I like my non-humid environment!

Monique, is there anyway that you can take MARTA to the Expo? I used to ride it everywhere when I was out there during visits. I found it a very easy way to get around. I HATE traffic. I use MAX in Portland, OR, and METRO in DC and BART in SFO, and even the "T" in Boston, and get this, I even use the subway in NEW YORK CITY!

I love public transportation...even when I get lost (which I have been known to do...that happened once in NYC! This very nice lady told my friend and I that we needed to get off at the next station and find a subway security officer to escort us back the way we came She even got off with us to help us find a security officer...guess we were in a very bad part of town and were very conspicuous!).

I sure got off track with that, didn't I! Sorry...

Anyway, looking at the Agenda for the day, I think Kelly is right. Pick what you want to listen to and go for it. These Wellness Expo's are great.

You will enjoy it!

Kelly,

You're right.. the same sessions so I'll probably go for the morning so I can come back to a nap later I rarely go into ATL but I did think the wk ends would be different.. I guess not! Where is everyone going on Sat (don't they know gas is like $4 and they should stay in their house?)

Are you planning to go? We could definitely meet up! I have no idea where the Renaissance Hotel is.. but I have GPS so I guess it couldn't be too hard to find! Now I just have to remember to sign up but my memory actually blanked on what the thing outside was called - the grille. And I thought I didn't have any cognitive problems..lol so I might want to listen to the cognitive impairment session. Tell me if you want to meet up!

Cheryl,
I know ATL traffic is bad during the week but I actually thought for some reason it'll be OK on the wk ends. I guess I was wrong. I also live in the GA boondocks in Madison..so I'm about 45-60 minutes east and that's not counting traffic. I will take my Baclofen and I'll be OFF and running for at least a couple hours I am excited to go there and listen to what the pros have to say since my neuro. kinda seems confused at times. And, maybe I'll meet Kelly!

I think the hotel it's being held in is located off I-285 in Cobb County. I used to have to go out that way for meetings at The Home Depot SSC. It's probably about 50 miles from my house. All interstate....yuck. There are a couple other people here in GA but I'm not sure if they are going to attend.

Where's Madison? I've never heard of it!! Are you near Athens?

There should definitely be a GA gtg! lol I don't know GA highways, I barely know east/west. I don't know where I-285 is but I'm sure John (my GPS) does! Madison is 28/29 miles south of Athens and about 48 miles east of ATL I think. Everyone from GA on this board should definitely go!! If I can stay awake and go then I would love to meet others from here!
